Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

I had a pair of beovox S75 in storage since 2002, finally got them out. It sounds so good with my Naim amp.

I restored them at a fair cost back in the day. I am glad I did.. most of the driver manufacturers have stopped carrying the drivers.

Its such a shame that modern speakers do not have 10" Bass units in their main body. The frequency response on these speakers is pretty phenomenal. Having these speakers has made my Yamaha YST-800 subwoofer useless for music. The two tweeter units add so much clarity to music. It shines with classical music, I can't wait to check more out on it.

The funny thing is when I heard these speakers through my old Rotel RA-02 they were pretty good, but crikey Naim do make some amazing gear they have breathed new life into them.

Been on with sorting out the setup today trying to tidy things up a bit:

Hopefully get the wires chased into the walls tomorrow, if not it will be next weekend. Also get my leccy mate to move all the sockets down behind the cabinet.

New house hence the bland colour scheme! Another 6 months will add a bit af colour!

Can i ask where you got the tv stand please and also your curtains??

What's in the cupboard?
Nappies and baby toys atm...
Nice set up chong, how you finding the BK?
Impressive, even more so considering it's size (it's tiny!) and the even more again considering the price. I paid £300 for it brand new. BK make these for other companies who just stick their logo on it and charge a fortune. Here is the BK XLS200 but with the MJ Acoustics name: = £850. Also note the MJ Acoustics is the old Mk1 that only has the 200w amp. The newer MkII which I have, has a more powerful 275w amp and an upgraded driver. That's almost a 200% markup for an older, inferior product.

One thing I will say is I definately think floorstanders as the front pair work a lot better to help the subwoofer blend in. When I set all the speakers to SMALL and assign all the bass duties to the subwoofer only, then it's noticeable that all the bass comes from one area. Things work a lot better with the floorstanders helping out and having them set to LARGE.

What did you have the crossover set to when you had it set to small? Also, what do you have the settings on the bk set to for when you use it on 'large' mode?

Unless I set all mine to small (have it at 80hz) my mono hardly does anything and is not even used for SD tv watching :( and I'd rather not turn it up too much. I've heard some people don't go past 9 o clock for volume on the sub.

Very nice upgrade. Enjoy. :)

How do you find mixing speakers?

Ive always been told the front 3 need to be from the same model range to give a good soundstage. The rears not so much of a bother.

The amp has crossover set to 80hz.

Sub has "low level gain" just under halfway, filter set to "Out LFE" and phase is set to around halfway at 90.

Cheers! Phase has reared it's ugly head again. :(

Hi Mate,

Both from next.

Media unit is the large Opus Mango, however i never fitted the doors/drawers on the front. Also needed to cut out some holes to get the wires from the ps3 & receiver to the tv.

Time some update pics I think :)

Finally got rid of the old Philips one-box HT system which was long overdue, and have replaced it with a Denon 2311, 2 x MA RX8s, 2 x RX1s and an RX Centre.. needless to say I am extremely happy with the setup now! Maybe a Sub to come next month but for now its more than enough. Initially I was after some KEF Q series but the auditions I had were disappointing, lacking in bass and high end clarity. But this could have been the AVRs used or the dealer not knowing how to setup the product.

Also I wall mounted the panel (Samsung 46C7700) with a Samsung slim kit, which was nice and easy, the cables are hidden anyway so no need to run them in the wall.

Not too many sources on show here as I mainly use my PC and wirelessly stream movies, TV shows and music via DLNA. But as I just moved my PC to the other end of the apartment I added a Linksys repeater to avoid any lag.

I still have a DVR, Digital cable box and an old Sony VCR which I am waiting on some scart -> phono cables to connect. No games consoles, I use the PC :)

Cabinet is an IKEA Besta (x2), slightly modded to allow access to the AVR from the back. Plus its not very deep so had to do this to close the doors :)

and for those interested in views..

 Lovely setup, stunning view. With a tiled floor how did you route the cables for the satellite bookshelf speakers though?

Nice Samsung TV BauerCTU...I really love the slim frame.

Thank you Sir!
I ended up taping them under the window frames for now, a bit of a bodge job but it keeps them off the floor.

I think my only option is to add a wooden skirting board under the windows with the cable behind, that would look better. I only had this setup for a couple of days nowbut it will be fixed in due course.

Thanks guys.

@Apple_man : yes, we do have Ikea or two :P and all the AV stuff was bought here, but the rest came over in the container when I moved.

Most consumer AV equipment is available here, but auditioning is a challenge as there are no shops which sell everything. They tend to focus on certain brands which they are the agent/distributor for. So listening to MA speakers on a Denon wasn't possible, luckily the MA dealer had an equivalent Marantz handy but I had to go to Abu Dhabi a couple of times to get them. I got a great discount though so no complaints :)

I think there is really a gap in the market for a diverse med/high end AV store run by someone who actually knows what they are talking about!

What kind of internet connections are you getting there?

Much better since the last couple of years. Currently I have 24mb with unlimited data. You never actually get the full commercial bandwidth, probably just half of that. But its enough, I have had up to 1000 kB/s downloading, can stream iPlayer without issues, etc.

Very nice, JLT is actually quite nice once you're above ground level, you must be quite close to the Bonnington too? Is that the springs you can see behind jlt?
