Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Fiiiiinally my shutters are ready to be installed next Saturday, so hopefully I'll be able to setup my kit again, not long after :D

Spent today patching up from where my sides + rears were installed.

Not too shabby!

Neatly hidden speakers beat wireless any day of the week :D

Very nice. I just missed out on a set of those on the bay a month ago in light oak, would have gone with my GS10s just lovely. Whats the rest of your system?

I think I posted it earlier in this thread, buuuut:

2x GS60 fronts
4x GSFX (side and rear)
GSCLR Centre
SVS PC-Ultra Subwoofer
Onkyo NR906 amp
Pioneer Kuro KRP-600m screen

Was waaaaay OTT for my flat - but now that i've moved into a detached home, it's now just slightly OTT :D

Nicely picked out components there. Quality setup, bet it sounds something else. Out of interest, how does it handle music. I used to drive the GS10s through a dedicated stereo amp for music and they sung. Getting anywhere close to that with an AV amp proved frustrating. The Arcam bi-amped I have makes a good go but no where the quality of the Roksan Kandy Liii I had before.

Hav you considered getting another stereo amp to drive the front 2 speakers using the pre out on your av amp?

Yep, actually did that for a while. The roksan didnt support the matched levels that some amps do though so it was a bit of a faff setting the correct level all the time. Getting things ready to watch a movie was just a hassle, used to drive the missus crazy if she ever had to try and use it when I was out.

Guess ill just have to keep saving for the Arcam AVR600 eh :p

Bought an HDMI extender so gave it a test along with my Epson 9000 on the bedroom wall ahead of its installation in the living room. Even on a magnolia wall it's absolutely stunning, I'm really pleased. Can't wait to see how it's going to look on a proper screen!

Finally built a new hi-fi rack. (based on the TNT flexy rack design) About £120 in total for 8 shelves. (would have been nearly £40 cheaper if i'd used exterior ply) Luckily the guy at B&Q cocked up one of the cuts and started again with a whole new sheet and gave me all the good cuts, so i have 14 shelves.

Parts ready - shelves drilled and waxed.

Got the cabling sorted after 2 days.

Starting out a bit rough

But got a bit tidier

It's not perfect as it'll need to be adjusted again in a month or two as i'll be getting a 37" tele and the cables will need to go above the ceiling, where they presently go under my desk to the right into my monitor. (got 3x 6m BNC coax from the dvd for component coiled up under there atm) There will be 3x hdmi cables going with them.

Room looks much better. Model railway is going to be dismantled and rebuilt in the loft and the shelving on the right is going to get a good tidy. Loving the comfort of my new chair.

Apologies for the poor quality shots, they didn't come out too well off the phone in low light. Over the last couple of days I've been installing the projector into the living room with a whole lot of help from my father in law who's pretty much the dogs whatsits when DIY is concerned. The first day we put the screen up. Didn't have too many issues really

So - screen up with cables hidden away, 5.1 array put back into place:

Epson TW-9000 at the other end of the ceiling installed flush with all cables hidden away:

After a little bit of tinkering to put the image on the screen, correct zoom etc, basic brightness and the like sorted and we get:

The image is absolutely square - that pic has something on the right hand side of the shot making it look like it's on an angle but it's bob on despite the flush fit.

Pleased would be an understatement :)

this would be an idea method to raise my tv so my centre can fit in front of it! i would just have to put a shelf underneath the bottom as my av unit has a glass top and wouldnt appreciate metal legs on it..is this doable? the tv is a 46 plasma and obviously fairly heavy
