Bump - What TV Cabinet is that?

Made a bit of an upgrade to my PC Hifi today... Kef LS50s and got them setup through a Pulse Infinity DAC & LPS4, going to a Yaqin MS-2A3 that's been tube-rolled with Sophia Electric tubes.

The LS50s are really a special pair of speakers, I can't believe how "cheap" they are for their quality... beautiful emotional sound.

I haven't quite finished the upgrade yet, but this is my system as it currently stands. I've bought everything over the last few weeks except the speakers and CD player.

AudioLab M-DAC
Marantz CD63
AudioLab 8000A
AudioLab 8000M x 2
Monitor Audio Silver 5i speakers (Bi-Amped)
Chord Interconnects
QED Silver Anniversary XT cable

I have ordered two tubs of Atacama Attabites for ballast, as both speakers are just on spikes at the moment and the ballast voids empty. Keen to learn how that will influence their sound.

For the future, I want to buy a proper rack next and trial some new speakers. My goal is to achieve maximum clarity and detail at low to moderate volume. Very keen to find a tablet or similar that will allow me to stream Tidal to my DAC (via USB).

Man, I desperately wanted that Audiolab stack in the late 90's/early 2000's (can't remember exactly when) and still would in a heartbeat.

Nice.

Thanks.

I bought the 8000A and 8000Ms from Kevin Green, who has worked his magic on them. He knows his stuff for sure.

I will be replacing the Marantz (currently just used as a transport), but can't decide whether to get an 8000CDM, a Brennan B2 or bin CDs entirely and just stream. The quality from Tidal is immense; I need to find a way to make it look good too though.

That's all for the future though.

I thought you would go Audiolab (from your original spec me thread) It's good kit. I had a pair of MA R352's back in the Mid 80's when I was a Teenager/early 20's, I went to a Hi-Fi show held in a Hotel near Regent's Park in 1985 & heard said speakers hooked up to an original 8000A & they sounded stunning! :D The boss of MA back then (Mo Iqbal) said that was the best integrated amp to use them with, anything better would show up the speakers limitations.

I thought about changing the Amp I had back then, but would've had to have saved for a fair while to get it as the money I was on back then was dire.

Though later on in the Show I caught Marantz showing off their Dolby surround processor, it was the first of what I call a 'Home Cinema' piece of Hardware for the UK market (RV353) I was hooked & didn't look back.... :p

I almost didn't. There were a few days before I committed to buying the 8000Ms (a £700 spend) that I seriously considered selling the 8000A I had just bought and buying a Naim 5si or Rega Elex-R instead, then adding to it as funds allowed.

I am glad I didn't though.

photoshop, gorgeous set up! That tv unit is perfect for what I'm after :) Just before I buy that, a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind...

1) I can't see any mention of shelves with it, it mentions buying interior fittings which I assume are the shelves, or does it come with them?

2) In one part it says it can be free standing or the unit fixed to the wall, yet on another part it says it absolutely must be fixed to the wall, which seems odd but Ikea instructions can be quite confusing :p. Is the latter the case? If so I wouldn't be able to buy it due to renting currently :(

You have to get the shelves separately as they are not included.

It does not need to be fixed to the wall. Mine is just resting on my floor.

It seems to be a popular unit on here :)
Cant fault it for £55 + £10 for the 2 shelves. CANNOT beat it for the price and the quality!! Looks modern and classy

Cheers, bought one yesterday with some shelves (Oak effect, not white)

I could do with it slightly off the floor to put a plug board underneath, but they were out of stock of the feet attachments.

How did you find the cable routing?

You could use a few square pieces of wood (painted white) to use as feet to get more clearance?

Cable routing for the TV at the top is OK but its a pain for anything inside the unit. Very tricky to hide the cables altogether as there are no holes or anything.
I did think about drilling holes in the centres and then feeding the cables through them so they were hidden but in the end i left it.
