Post your mobile phone desktop!

While I do think some of the minimalistic text based home screens look incredible, I keep my phone as functional as possible as I use it a lot.

I dont want to be diving into the app drawer or folders for things I used regularly.

Here is my fairly standard looking setup.

I'd say most of the goodness is in my system and app settings!

Nexus One, CyanogenMOD 6.1.

Any chance of sharing the agenda widget settings? You should be able to export the settings to SD. :)

My phone's really starting to **** me off now. I've got an image I want to use as my wallpaper, which I've cropped on my PC to 320x480 (Res of my HTC Hero). But when I go to set it as a wallpaper it wants me to crop it in strange ways, the image is already the perfect size so why the hell do I need to crop it? When I try cropping it how it says I just get a massively blown up small portion of the picture I want, and I can't drag the rectangle to fit the whole image

If it helps I'm using LauncherPro with scrolling wallpapers disabled.

You have to crop it when applying a wallpaper, there's no need to pre-crop on PC beforehand ever. Just put on SD > apply wallpaper.

You can expand the bounding box on the crop screen, just grab the edge of it and drag it around, expand it to fill the whole image or to the area desired then click OK.

That's the thing though, the image was originally taken on the phone camera. When I set it to wallpaper it was still not how I wanted. So I cropped it on the PC to make it perfect as it's easier, but it's still giving me the same problems :(

It was like... I could only drag the crop box diagonally, not just vertical/horizontal.

I'm still not understanding if you're setting the wallpaper on the phone correctly!

Ok, you long press home screen > Wallpaper > Choose wallpaper from gallery and when dragging the bounding crop box you get this kind of view yep?

Technically you should be able to just drag the box all the way out and your wallpaper will be exactly how it is intended?

Yes that's what I get, but my image takes up the full screen in the preview you posted. When I try dragging the box to cover the whole image, I can only move it diagonally, so once it hits the left/right edges of the image it won't cover the rest of it (Top + bottom).

Sorry for such poor explanations :(

Yeah it fills the whole screen if you're zoomed in too far (the crop box is small), expand the crop box, let go of the edge and the image will zoom out. You can then keep one xpanding this way until the whole image can be seen.

It isn't zoomed in though, that's just how it's defaulting in the preview :(

*sigh* I can't believe it has to be this difficult to change a wallpaper :(

What version of Android is your Hero on? Gallery3D is good but needs 2.2 although may work on 2.1 too.

ES File Explorer also has its own built in image viewer that can set wallpapers.

I think the issue is that the Hero's screen res is 320x480, but the wallpaper isn't that res because they scroll with the desktop as you swipe left and right.

Look at the HTC wallpapers, they are not 320 wide, they are in fact quite wide (like the above picture). Where as your will be exactly 320 pixels wide. This is what I think is causing you a problem when stretching the crop box, as it isn't the same aspect as 320x480.

Well.... I'm tired and thats the best I could explain it. :)

Great Scott! That's it! Didn't see it before but yes that is exactly it.

Desire walls are 960x800 to span across the homescreens even though the screen itself is 480x800, so yes you've actually cropped too far in Photoshop.

Have you tried Wallpaper Set and Save?

Bah! Had an old tab open. :(

If you open the image (or browse to it) in the browser, you can then long press and set as wallpaper. If it's the right res it should set it fine without having to use the gallery. I find that getting the phone to crop/resample the wallaper makes it look quite crappy and blurred rather than sharp on the homescreen.
