It's a huge PR win for putin in crimea and russia .... UK is so dumb

It's a big win in terms of PR for both countries, because each country has it's own version of the event and the populace within each country tends to side with their own military.

UK's stance is that they sailed through Ukraine's territory (which implies breaching de facto Russian waters in Crimea) and that Russia is so afraid of the great UK power that they did not even fire a warning shot and the Russians lied to cover up their shame.

Russia's stance is that the UK breached Russia's territorial waters but the Russian state responded strongly which made the UK's warship to leave their waters. Increases hate for the UK and all NATO powers for antagonising Russia and increases support for Putin.

Weird how there's so many people presumably from the UK and posting on a UK forum who want to denigrate their own country, the absolute state of what seems like half of the population these days.

Could having spent 30 odd years of seeing zero spine shown by Number 10 Downing Street be a factor in people’s low expectations?

Usually the left types!

Anyway this whole thing is just stupid, that single type 45 could have blown all of the sukhois out of the sky if it really wanted to.

I suppose you'd be the expert on spineless if you're living in "La France" eh

It borrowed a handful of F35s from the US, it doesn't actually have any.

Why are you making things up without even doing some basic fact checking?

"The aircraft carrier has eight British F-35 jets which are being used in Iraq for tasks including troop support and surveillance."

??
"There are also 10 helicopters on board and 10 US F-35 jets from the Marine Corps' Fighter Attack Squadron 211 which carry out operations under British command."

So I was mainly correct.

The idea of the UK died years ago, it's an extreme left state now and every day we invite more people that hate us.

what do you expect when we have clowns in power for about 20+ years

you still think where a global super power? people saying oh russia might have thousands of jets but how many are operational.

they only need a small fraction to outnumber the UK.

like russia has what 44 nuclear subs? 24 electric?
only 24 of the nuclear subs were operational as of 2008 according to google.

we have a total of 11.... we don't even have an offensive EW plane....

about the only thing we have more than them is +1 aircraft carrier and about +4-6bil more in our military budget.

The world doesn't like us for intervening anywhere, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, libya..

we're just a puppet of America on the world stage that meddles in places it's not wanted to support American regime change.

it's about time we thought about our actual position in the world and how we want other countries to see us, standing on our own feet not holding americas coat tails.

Yes we're still important on the world stage, but not for being a military power
