** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

A chap just posted his backlight bleed.

Might be my low standards, but this seems par for the course. Especially since picture exaggerate it.

So I'm in the market for a ultrawide monitor, and I'm looking at one of these but a couple of things are putting me off.... the possibility of Acer's usual substandard build quality and QC issues, but more worryingly the terrible warranty and replacement policy.

Specifically, dead pixels: http://www.acer.co.in/ac/en/IN/content/dead-pixel

16 dead pixels is apparently fine in Acer's book...even on a monitor of this cost, where as 1 dead pixel would drive me insane... so i think this one's out for me unfortunately.

Yeah Acer suck for QC and warranty... even though you do get certain protection under the Sales of Goods Act which many people don't realise. Unfortunately though, if you want an ultra-wide with G-Sync, there isn't any other option until Asus release their PG348Q.

Yeah that's the other one I've been looking at... from what I've read it wont be available till next year? But hey, i can wait ;-)

Definitely next year at the earliest, what with the sweet time Asus take with releasing monitors! People are still waiting on the PG279Q which was announced forever ago, and there's still not even an official release date for that. I personally reckon it will be near summer for the PG348Q, and by that point we may be hearing rumblings of the next gen DP 1.3 monitors, which would certainly give pause for thought about buying the Asus.

Ideal monitor would be 144hz IPS with ULMB, 5K ultrawide so we can have high res applications but switch back down to 1440P UW for gaming while maintaining pixel scaling. For that we need windows scaling fixed and DP1.3. Make it 38" as i have about that much room.. :)

Everyone who has received one so far on overclock.net is returning it. Apparently its the same on another German forum.

Kinda mind-boggling really. What is going on with some companies QA.

Ah as I feared, I really wanted it not to be a pile-o-crap :(

You can't charge a premium price for a product and not expect people to want it to be perfect.

I'm sure Acer will try and explain it away as "first bad batch" or something, my level of confidence in buying a 21:9 monitor at the moment is pretty much ZERO!
