** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

Hopefully your right.

The way I read it in the manual it came across as though 100Hz was hardware/tech limitation that only a more modern card could do. Rather than just being limited by the "horse power" of whatever cards you are using, if that makes sense.

So even if I can get 120fps in a title I will still be limited to 60Hz because my 780's are old tech than a 960 was what I was worried about. I'll know in a few hours regardless

Looks great on paper, even at this price I would be happy to pay that money if I was guaranteed a perfect example. However after the experiences I've read online, I will wait to see what quality the early brave souls receive and what their experience with OcUK/Acer is like.

For that kind of money I would expect a golden flying unicorn to come with thw screen!

As for the limits I suspect maybe the Display Ports on the older cards may not support the 100Hz at specific resolutions? 3440 is getting close to UHD which of course is limited to 60Hz

If mine turns up in the next hour I can test it on a GTX 670.

There is a Sharpening setting on my Freesync version. Its labeled 'super sharpeness' and can be adjusted from 0-10.

No such thing on the X34 sadly.

The more I play the more I'm convinced it's not me. Every game that I add a slight sharpening filter too looks noticeably crisper. It's like the monitor is blurring it slightly.

OK I think I got as good a picture as I'm going to get of it, hopefully someone can see what I mean:

780 classsified specs
RESOLUTION & REFRESH
Max Monitors Supported: 4
240Hz Max Refresh Rate
Max Analog: 2048x1536
Max Digital: 4096x2160
Displayport 1.2

The wait is killing me will it or won't it and if it won't what to do...... argh!

Just found this note at the GeForce site as well for reference cards.
4096x2160 (including 3840x2160) at 60Hz supported over Displayport. Support for 4k tiled MST displays requires 326.19 driver or later.

That looks as though something is smeared over the image rather than sharpness?

Ordered mine yesterday afternoon, shipped from OCUK (according to email) at around 15:30 on the same day for UPS, UPS tracking is still saying I'm at the first part: Order Processing. What's going on? :(

I'll lave any further impressions for later but I am able to get 95Hz using a GTX 670 in Windows with g-Sync enabled. Wither 3 boots and plays but GTX670 is struggling to get much above 30 fps on Medium so not much of a test but again I am assuming the monitor is reporting 95Hz with G-Sync enabled correctly to answer the previous question.

OK one obvious one is there is minimal BLB only two area top left and top right where you could point a finger and be critical but as I'm used to a VA panel so that was my only fear. Default settings too so quite bright out of the box as it is.

<EDIT> I use a 980 Ti at home but I had a 2nd PC to test the monitor here in case I had to return it damaged in transit or something.

Maybe out of stock, give them a call

I would if I wasn't at work, web chat is down atm too. I don't know if UPS are lying or not about not having it, I asked not long after I ordered it if I would get it today (and was told it would) but if UPS don't even have it yet then who knows! Puzzling!

Like what though? It's fine with the sharpness up a bit, but by default it's definitely blurry.

I've had a closer look at some images across the two monitors and the Acer anti-glare definitely seems more aggressive than my PB278Q. That sometimes creates a smeared, vaseline effect. Not sure tbh.

Doesn't it seem odd that it seems fixable if only the monitor had sharpening?

Sorry to harp on about this, but I'm now getting quite concerned. I think this could be EASILY fixed with in built monitor sharpening.

Check out the loss of detail on the stairs with no sharpening:

Well that's potentially quite depressing and might even mean a return and I've not even turned it on yet.

Was getting bored so decided to read the manual for a change and saw the following:

G-Sync (displayport only)
3440x1440@60Hz GTX650Ti or higher

3440x1440@100Hz GTX960 or higher so does this mean I've forked out over a grand for a 100Hz monitor that I can only us at 60Hz even with sli 780 classifieds?

the manual for what? the X34 G-sync version? i had no issues running the screen at 100Hz from a G-sync GTX750 or even an AMD card (with G-sync on the latter of course).

Recieved mine this morning, even the delivery guy from DPD was jealous.

I am amazed with this, going from a 24" 1080p 60hz screen to this is like upgrading from Dame Edna to Kate Upton. Wow

No dead pixels, no colour banding, tinyest glow in the bottom left corner which you cannot really see even before calibration.

wow just wow.... one happy customer... good things come to those who wait.

2 tiny cons....
1 - already mentioned terrible OSD menu, threw some choice words at it earlier
2 - there is a tiny scratch on the inside of one of the big metal feet which is noticable when you are sat in front of the screen. However I can live with it for this perfect monitor.

I spent some time trying to get the 100hz working on the monitor with no luck until I realised that I had my 55" 4k Screen plugged into the gfx card as a secondary monitor via HDMI which will prevent you from raising the hz to 100. Unplugged it and it worked fine. Dont really need it connected anyway.

In my opinion there are very few problems with this monitor in comparison to the previous Acer Predator (27"), looks like problems may lie with the panel then the manufacturer? LG seems to have done a good job. I dont know what Metros is talking about when he says 'all the problems with this monitor'.... he either works for Asus or is the worlds biggest fanboy.
