Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

A bit of a crazy finish but I guess every little helps at this point especially if there's less opportunity to gain/lose time on Ventoux. A pity that Cavendish had the mechanical problem so he couldn't even try to be there at the finish.

Movistar useless.

what on earth were Movistar etc thinking.

They should have had Quintana further forward but after Sagan+Froome went, I think they did the right thing by not helping to chase.
The sprint teams were chasing and if they started putting the little Movistar climbers into the line with riders like Tony Martin, they'll just get blown around in the wind and probably slow it down.

To be honest I was watching the whole race and fell asleep and missed the actual breakaway and woke up with the four in the breakaway with a 20sec gap. I just couldn't believe with NQ stuck on Froomes wheel all tour, that Movistar let the yellow jersey go up the road. Will have to watch how it happened once I get home on Friday. :)

Blimey that stage was pretty mad! G was immense to get back on!

Ventoux being shortened certainly changes things. I reckon sky had an idea it was going to be undideable earlier as they were smashing it all day!

Sagan trying to give Bodnar the stage but Froome sprinting spoilt it for him.

He must have known Froome was going to sprint. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if the 4 of them had already agreed on the order that they were going to cross the line from about 10k out!
There are bonus seconds this year, so Froome wasnt sprinting for the stage win.

Sagan said:
Froome did everything he could,” Sagan said. “Thomas was dropped at 600 metres out. I thought that maybe Froome would not sprint. I led for Bodnar, I wanted him to win, but then Chris started sprinting and I had to go for the win.”

I think it's a great way to show your the best - not just waiting for the mountains etc - he's taken time on the descents and time trialling the last 10 km in a small group etc.
