Pro Cycling Discussion 2017

Definitely not the expected result! Was good though and the tight winding roads proved to be just too difficult to coordinate the sprinters lead out trains.

Got my Twitter question read out on Eurosport by Rob Hatch too which was good! I've got to say, the success rate for tweeting queations to the Eurosport team is actually quite high. Ive had a few read out and anawered by Carlton Kirby too.

Good couple of finishes for spinters stages. Bora must have been delighted for first stage. Ewan got a bit unlucky and probably had enough to win yesterday without mechanical. Funny seeing G coming in the top 10, guessing they're thinking splits could be happening early so ensure you're as far up the field as possible.

Just in case anyone didn't know, quest (on freeview) have the highlights of the giro every night.

Cheers - will series link it tonight.

I bought an Amazon Fire TV just for the Giro, based on it having a Eurosport app in the Amazon app store. Turns out they pulled it recently. Amazon say they are working on fixing it with Eurosport, but the e-mail conversation with Eurosport suggests they aren't fixing it

Racial abuse should never be tolerated and 6 weeks is probably quite light, sounds like it was heard by quite a few in the peloton at the time.
Hmmm, I guess, I don't know the circumstances of it so I'm kinda sat on the fence over the severity. To me it sounds harsh if it's from the heat of the moment and provoked in some way.

Is there a 'catch up' steam/website for this?

I've still not sorted a Eurosport sub out (really tempted by one for £20 if anyone spots a deal!), nothing on any of the streaming services I have ( nowtv, amazonfire & netflix or kodi {pulse}). No Eurosport app on my Samsung Smart TV but I could cast from mobile to it, or use a spare nowtv box I have...

I turned a total blank looking for kodi releases with anything cycling related. Tons of them with Eurosport content for almost all other sports, just not cycling :(

Eurosport always have offers on for their online player subscription which is pretty reasonable.

£30 for the remainder of the year. Nabbed it at £19.99 when I wasn't sure if Sky were going to drop Discovery etc earlier in the year. Will get my moneys worth in July when watching the TdF whilst in Germany

See, £30 isn't bad if it did what I wanted... From what I'd read it's not really a streaming service, just a catch up service? I heard that footage was only stored for a week or two for playback?

I'd quite happily pay £30 for something which allowed me to stream everything cycling, such as all of the classics (so I could catch the ones I missed), maybe a bit of TdF 2014, some of the ToB 2016 and then Giro 2017 stage highlights. But Eurosport doesn't do this. :(

Youtube DOES around 75% of this for FREE, but either doesn't have all of the stages/highlights, or they're bad quality, or they're English commentary. Adverts too...

Shouldn't really be sharing BC member benefit codes openly :o to be a killjoy ;)

There is a recent inventory of aired programmes, in addition to the live streams which you can pause, rewind etc but don't think there's the back catalogue of past Grand Tours or Day Races you seek.

That is one of the best win every surely??

Jan Polanc goes in the break after 2km and hangs on for the win all the way up Etna. Ok so the main bunch and the headwind didn't bring the fireworks expected behind but what a victory for Polanc.

Eurosport highlights are starting to annoy me. 90 min programme last night yet they still cut chunks out of the last 5km of the climb. Came back from the last advert break and groups were 2km up the road
