Pro Cycling Discussion 2017

Excuses! ;)

I also enjoyed Bob Jungels in some of the early stages, he seemed to have a knack for following the right moves/wheels so rightly ended up in pink! Good to see him still bouncing around the top 10 and with that win in Bergamo he could be one to watch on some other tours (I don't think he has the climbing legs for the final week).

Oh and Movistar team car, lolwtf!

Bob Jungels was a beast yesterday. That guy is going to be something special.

Nobody talking about Jasper Stuyven actually beating sprinters consistently throughout the early stages. Dude is not a sprinter, he's just hard as nails. He drilled it on the front into the climb yesterday for about 10mins solid and ruined the bunch.

I feel sick just looking at the stage profile........should be chaos.

Anyone with the Eurosport app, how do you stream yours? I'm using it from my S5 streamed to Chomecast (using 'Google Home') and I keep getting annoying drop outs.
Watched Stage 14 highlights and Stage 11 last night, stream worked fine so maybe my issues were related to traffic/sunday night.

Omar Fraile. Wow. Really enjoyed watching him on Stage 11, incredible! I missed much of the Vuelta last year where he supposedly rode well? Liked his attacking in the ToY too!

Omar got proper dropped early on Sunday, didn't look too good.
Cima Coppi today. I've honestly no idea. I don't like it so much when it goes to the breakaway, love to see the big names in contention for it and a proper battle for it.
This is THE test for Dumoulin. He gets through today with minimal loses then he is grasping to victory and will see the smallest of light at end of the tunnel.

Zakarin, Nibali and Quintana the dirty swines, I expected better from Quintana after what Dumuolin did for him the other day.

edit: on reflection I guess there was a GC rider in the break so the riders mentioned above would have lost time on him if they waited, so they really didn't have much choice.

Glad zakarin had that crash last year. Scum. Understand gc was in the road but they shouldn't have attacked like that. Fair play dumoulin clawing it back. If he wins now be even sweeter.

poor sportsmanship indeed - Zakarin was poor, Quintana was trying to stay neutral and blame others......

Landa has to be so frustrated with all that effort today and then getting pipped on the line.

After reading Nibali's interview after the race, it cemented how much I really dislike the bloke.

I just hope TD hangs in there for the rest of the week and smashes them all in the TT on the final day.

I actually do like Nibali. He is an out and out racer. The way he flew down that mountain yesterday was spellbinding. I do want TD to win this race but he made a mistake yesterday. It was not a mechanical and how were the riders to know if it was just a nature call or if he was ill. If he was ill then why would they wait as he would be an anchor to the group who were going to chase for the stage. Things aren't always as straightforward as the commentators make them out to be. Dumoulin did a gracious thing the other day by waiting for Quintana but it was also a stupid thing to do. Over cooking a corner on a descent is a hazard of the sport. Nobody waited for Kruijswijk last year when he had his spill.

Tom did incredibly well to get back and limit his losses - he showed real character and hasn't whinged about the other riders. Fingers crossed he can recover today and hang in there,

Echoing most of the sentiment above whilst feeling a little conflicted!

TD climbed fantastically given the circumstances and despite handing the best part of 2 minutes to the other GC riders didn't really lose a great deal on out & out climbing.

Can't say I'd have wanted to climb the Stelvio, for the second time that day, with freshly soiled bibs. Though quite an advantage to not have others willing to follow your wheel! :p

OK, so I was all for flying to Italy and personally slapping Zakarin in the face when that kicked off but I have thought about it and calmed down. I still hate the dodgy twit, no doubt about it, but he sat up and definitely wasn't shut down by Movistar so he got some information from somewhere telling him to stop attacking.
Quintana is a sly little one, I don't like or trust the guy and wouldn't put anything past him.

Landa and co up the road had no reason to hang back, fair play to them but the GC contenders absolutely should have respected the jersey, even more so after the sportsmanship he showed regarding Quintana the other day.
