So a bit of an update.
Working on the Desk Sunday and finishing it off now before staining and taking it home.

Getting ready to make the glass template

All sorted ready to send off to get Glass cut

Filling any bits and then sanding it down.

All joins filled

Top re-veneered.

Cutting down 4mm for the piano hinge

Nice and snug

Top fitted and working nicely!

Really getting on well! Is that champfer hand chiseled? cause it damn well looks like it!

Just hand chiseled the corner bit where it joins with the other side.
So it gets a nice corner

What we worked on yesterday.

Finishing off the filling and sanding making sure its beautiful

Staining started

Getting Draws all stained up.

This little bottle of stain goes so far!

Looking good!

Next we need to do a matt varnish to seal it in and add protection.
Then were pretty much done on the build side.

Not a fan of staining that beautiful wood finish, but the project is great.

Ye I had to stain it, so that the colour matches my TV Unit.
As it will be in the corner of my lounge.

If I didn't, I would have multiple coloured woods in the room and it would look like a mess as a whole.

I did umm and arrr about it for awhile, but thought it would be for the best

I hope it's just the awful JPEG compression, I hope the staining will come out a nice even tone, it looks a bit rubbish so far in the photos.

Yup camera is a bit naff.
But also that is just the first coat, it will be done again to make 100% sure its nice and even.

Also the Varnish would even it out too.

Just to clarify though - the desk looks fantastic, really do love the work going into it, it'd have been a shame if it was ruined by the staining - however it sounds like you're on the case with it, so I'll sit back for a moment and await some more coats and better camera

Stunning work, and you'll have something to be very proud of and to keep for a long time, and it'll be a great talking point
