Project - MAN CAVE !

Small update!

Over the weekend I had some assistance from my dad to run some cable for the internetzz from the house to the cave!

Got the majority of it done before the heavens opened. We'll have to save the rest for another day though.

Also decided to go against the epoxy floor and pick up some laminate flooring in the sales this month and just desk it out (leaving a small area around the bar for tiles). I think epoxy will be too 'garage like' and won't have the feel that I'm going for.

Looking really good. Nice work

Thanks man! :)

Booked Thursday/Friday off work to get the majority of floor done

- Purchase underlay
- Purchase laminate flooring
- Move all furniture out of man cave
- Lay the underlay
- Lay the flooring
- sec up some tiles for around the bar

Flooring is almost down now.. about 2/3 of the way across the room (pictures to come)

Went for a black/slate tile effect for around/behind the bar. and then a dark oak wood style for the rest of the room...

Ran into a load of problems though. Laying the tile effect flooring was a doddle. It was complete relatively quickly as it slots into the corner quite snug! The problem came however when we were laying the other wood effect flooring, in which we only had one wall to "knock against". On the left was the 1st garage door, and on the right was the tiled floor I'd previously put down. This resulted in a 'floaty floor!'

Anyway, I think Its all been overcome now with a lot of wedging in of blocks here and there!

I'll post some pics when I get home.

Next quest is to get the skirting sorted, and find a very cheap sofa(s) !

And here are the pics:

I wanted full tiles on the outside of the bar, as I didn't mind half tiles going behind the bar. the pic shows 2 tiles, but in the end I decided to go 3 tiles out so would then fit the entire bar stool on, with extra room, rather than squeezing them on.

A quick put together of the rest of the flooring, just to see what It would look like.

Both floors down together. This is where it got really tricky as we only really had one wall to knock against, nothing on the garage door side and couldn't really knock against the other laminate.

The gaps will be silicone filled and then the silver metal strip will be cut to size/put over the top of them both.

I also got round to staining the edging for the bar, as well as the skirting. Also brought the skirting for the rest of the room last night.

Managed to do quite a lot last night to be fair, almost finished the whole room, got to the door at least. I'd say another 2 1/2 rows of flooring and its finished! Will take some more pics tonight as I forgot last night!

Probs should add, needs to be done by the 2nd February... as thats the "grand opening" (Super Bowl!)

Definitely looks more like a room and less like a garage with the flooring in place.

I take it we are all invited to this grand opening? :p

Yeah I thought the same. I knew it would make a difference but didn't realise how huge it would be. With the newly painted walls, the projector screen and when the skirting is down it will be great!

If people want to come, they are more than welcome. Trust me if you wish!

The only condition is that you'd have to endure some of my footballing buddies :P

Here they are, sorry for the mess, needed it to hold the floor down :D

Just got a couple more rows to lay down, fingers crossed I don't need another pack of flooring! :D

suddenly..... a setback appears!

Wonderful, I now have a wet pool table.

FOUR DAYS BEFORE SUPER BOWL!!!! :(

At least the weathers supposed to be dry round here on Saturday and Sunday so you won't be fighting back the rain while trying to fix it.
