Project: Molten Gold

Nicely done! I've had a stack of 30+ pallets I've been chopping up for firewood, you just inspired me to try and make something out of them!

Seriously tho, that chair? Can't be comfy or healthy on the old butt cheeks dude?

Nice to see you updating, very interesting desk !

I've been seriously considering, swapping my current Enthoo case for the same version as you (the LED is just perfect btw). My mod with dual CPU's is a less colourful motherboard is screaming out for more GOLD ! But I'll have to make do I think as the machine has cost an absolute fortune

Congrats on getting a sponsor, who and what are they providing? Certainly helps if it saves you some pennies ;)

Yeah sorry this thread has slowed right down, lack of funding seems to be the issue here at the moment :(

Oh nice one, yeah if you get this case I serious recommend spraying the motherboard tray black so to make the mobo blend in better.

Cheers, it was Mayhems. They sent over a couple of liters of Oil Black coolant & one golden aurora booster, but unfortunately the effect I was hoping for didn't even come close :( It was just all black & could only see the golden flakes in the res if you looked very carefully, so I didn't want to post any pictures of the failure, sorry :/ Considering mixing up some pastel colours though to get something golden. I'll see if I could send them a colour sample to work off & get a good match, worth a try I suppose!

That desk is banging - really like it.
Thanks man, I'm really pleased with it :) It's just the right height size all around!

Ah sweet, I'm glad I've inspired you to try something new! I look forward to seeing what you've come up with.

Yeah this 'chair' is a pain in the butt, so to speak aha! Once I can afford an actual chair though I'll be getting one. That'll probably be my next big purchase :)

So the last couple of days have been a little bit productive. I decided that the black coolant look wasn't working with the theme so I drained the loop, flushed it and drained it again and refilled it with clear water. All that draining & refilling was frustrating though as I had no proper way to fill the res or drain the loop safely. To fill it I was wedging a small funnel into the top of the res, then placing some spare 19/13 tubing into the funnel with a larger funnel jammed into the end. This was risky and painfully slow. Then with the draining, my method was get the pc on a small fold up step, get the pump hanging out the side of the case & remove one of the inlet plugs, hoping the coolant would go in the washing up bowl.

So that night I got shopping & bought a 10mm male/male xspc extension fitting, 2x gold monsoon compression fittings & an aqua computer ball valve fitting. The AQBV fitting, xspc extension and one of the compression fittings were for the drainage system which I've added to the pump as it's the lowest point of the system, and the 2nd compression fitting goes at the top of the res allowing me to attach some tubing which means I can have the pc running with the pump on full power whilst I fill the res up. That means I can get the whole loop filled and air bubble free in 10-15 minutes!
(excuse the cable mess, I'm still yet to make custom length cables!)

Today I manged to finally get round to spraying the remaining rings for the top fans. Whilst getting them off the fans, I accidentally snapped on, which meant I had to spray 3 instead of 2. I was lucky as I ran out of spray just as I finished the 3rd ring!

Also, whilst I had the loop drained I changed it around a little. The tubing going into the rad on the near side was under a lot of tension and was at one hell of an angle, so I bought some 90 degree fittings to straighten things out a bit. The original plan was to have two 90's on the cpu block and one 45 on the res or rad inlet, but the two 45's wouldn't fit next to each other and neither would one 45 and one 90. Also one 90 wasn't extended enough to get it passed the rad fans parallel to the loop. So, the resulting layout ended up being one 45 on the cpu block inlet, two 90's on the rad inlet and one 90 on the rad outlet. This makes for a smoother looking loop and less tension on all the sections.

One last thing. Got something excting planned involving the graphics card. Who'd like to take a guess at what's in the pipeline??

A change of scenery means a different case to me, but that wouldn't make sense so maybe you are going over to Hardline?

Sticking it in your loop with some more gold fittings?

Again, both great guesses but not even close ;) The main component has been purchased for around £35 & will be arriving between Thursday and Saturday next week. In the mean time, keep on guessing!

So today I recieved an email saying the estimated delivery day for my thingy is Saturday. So that's when you get to see this update! Until then, here's a couple teaser pictures to keep you guessing at what's coming up. Today involved a little bit of case modding and a little bit of swearing and a little bit of laying upside down to get to those hard to reach places...

loving the build also, I don't like a good black and gold build! would like to try this style in a Raijintek Metis as a little portable pc :) but it wont contend to your level, such beauty.

also reading your whole log, you said you don't have Photoshop, have a look at GIMP (The GNU Image Manipulation Program), basically the same as Photoshop but of course not quite as good but still good enough to use!

Thanks man! I say go for the Metis build, it'll look fantastic in that case. The size of it is screaming for hardline tubing to keep it tidy! Take your time and anything is possible :)

Thanks for the tip. I use Snapseed on the iPad & with its recent updates, it's a great image editor, worth a look at!
