Project Whurple - White/Purple Watercooled Build - Changes to 3d printer build!!

Oooh! What chairs did you buy? At least when it's done it's going to look dope!

I just grabbed myself a new monitor which is finally forcing me to upgrade the rest of my machine as it's proper old! Never had an LG before but the warranty on it was trash too, 12 months when all the other brands do 2-3 years...

I was looking at MSI monitors as well but my old GPU was MSI and the support was pretty naff... when it finally packed up. What other monitors were you considering then?

Tell me about it hopefully some sort of cooler turns up tomorrow even if its that £5 ebay special (which won't sufficiently cool the cpu)

So chairs were just some cheaper mesh ones, I got them from staples of all places because the chairs me and the mrs are using at the moment are beyond a joke and not at all comfortable so anything is an upgrade. They were about £100 each so as long as they are not utter rubbish we will be good. The desk is just crazy expensive for what it is, mine is 1800 wide royal brown oak and the mrs one we ordered is only 800 wide and still costs £300. I'm giving the mrs my current samsung lc34f791EQuXEN (has one dead pixel that does my head in - Mrs wont even notice it) and went for this MSI: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...rved-widescreen-gaming-monitor-mo-00d-ms.html

I also bought us both a White Glorious Model 0. Because She deserves a new mouse for her PC and I deserve one because of some other reason :)

Also why the hell did corsair not make the case so you can do this in the first place? It seems an obvious cool place people might want to put some drives and would save them some metal. And SSD covers are using tape... Ill let you into a secret, they aren't the SSD's as I felt that was taking away from the "I want to build something awesome for cheap" theme so I am using the mech laptop drives and will build a big ish raid to claw back some performance. It still has the NVME boot drive for performance where it really needs it.

I bring further news on the memory. Never has a system been so easy to get running. I selected memory xmp, rebooted and it instantly posted at 3200. No training, no massive waits on startup, Just straight in literally never has it been so easy.

Memory is Nanya A-Die

Nice
And a bargain at that price too
You are certainly lucky so far:)

Not bad right. I'm testing now but it doesn't appear to be unstable in any way. In fact it's done nothing but do exactly what it should do. Turn on, install windows, update ram settings. Install some lighting control software. Install all the windows updates... Looking good. Have shut it down for now. My new monitor etc get here tomorrow and her desk next week. We are rocking along nicely.

Hope everything arrives before any more
Tightening of lock down
Seen nothing mentioned about couriers falling to covid19
But it's impossible that none of them are catching it
And going by ocuk sales the courier companies must be ran off their feet
Looking forward to more pictures mate:)

You see those white LED's that shine down from the front of the case?

Dude, that cooler looks so happy!! I heard Nanya A-Die overclocks pretty well.

I didn't notice the white LED's either! Nice subtle feature.

So is your Mrs cool with the level of illumination going on with her rig?? :D

I don't think she got much of a say in any of this at all tbh. But she did start massively jumping onboard these last few days as more stuff is coming and her space for working is starting to become a reality. Tbh I just decided I'm doing it a few weeks ago and it's gone from there. I knew I had a while before I could afford everything but had no idea this would all get so bad so really it was a lucky call. Right now she is working on one of my laptops which tbh is more than man enough for the job but she needs better to work effectively. So a mini version of my setup.

Also literally all the setup will likely ever do is run word/zoom/jabba and vmware horizon client. :(

When you ask for white and everything is black... white fittings though...

Also 75 notes and no import fees.. look at all this stuff!!!

That's going to be one epic build for the cost! You certainly done your shopping and proves that you can save money if you shop around.

I have no idea how it all fits together!!! I think there is some way to attach the pump to a res or something... I dunno more toys just arrived!! 2x Model O's and a 34" curved panel... All I am waiting on is a desk!

You ordered something that you don't know how it fits together? Nice one! lol

I didn't even know what I was getting. I was just told it will be a full watercooling setup for the cpu. I mean we tried to communicate but it wasn't so easy. The fella doesn't really understand me so in the end I just sent him money and said just send me whatever, we spent 3 days trying to understand what I meant by white! Not really a standard shopping experience but it's £75 and that would just about buy me the block alone.

It also looks like the bykski controller will work with those other fans and it 'looks' like I may be able to manually set the levels for each R,G & B.

All part of the fun. Remote shopping with somebody that doesn't really speak your language or know what you are talking about. It's like a lottery, you might not get what you think you are getting.

Is this it then? Final parts?

Desk! Desk is coming as well. I am pretty sure there are probably some more packages on route. I had a pack of purple LED's and some other jazz coming for some mods. And coolant!! Don't have any of that yet! but do have distilled water.

For those not really sure what is in the pic this is what is in the haul...

Quality actually seems very good. He says before he messes it all up.

WOW that's a Lot of gear for the money mate
Am insanely jealous I don't have a friend in China or Hong Kong lol
Guessing that's just a little bit of the anti vortex plastic that broke off
If want the res attached to the pump
Few options
Check if the end of the res comes off and leaves the pump able to be fitted to it directly
Or use a male to male extension
With those you have to attach pump and res before it's in the pc~unless it's a rotary male to male
Or use an adjustable sli fitting
Or somewhere I have a friction fitting for doing it
One half screws in res one in pump then you just push them together
This let's you mount your pump then can just push the res on
First time used those was scary as held together with 3 or 4 O rings friction
But worked great
They are useful for when things are too tightly spaced to get your hand in to turn fittings etc

Would this work?

Ah nice helix looked black in photo

Yea at an angle it's like a purple uv kind of colour. We shall see when we light it up. Just got the board out now and it doesn't have a pump header but does have a load of fan headers. Can you use a pwm fan header for a pump? I know my board x399 has a good few headers specifically for pumps.

Yeah used fan headers before motherboards started doing pump/high amp headers as custom watercooling became more popular

Hold on... The board manual has literally nothing about pumps... but the website for the same revision board:

I guess ill find the chassis header.

Good spot
Looks like chassis header then:)

It's starting to come together :) mapping it out as I go!

Thought I would take a break and show you guys some bits. I got lucky again or at least I think I did... Let me explain, you know those £18 fans I bought with the controller, well they use a 6 pin rbg which if you have an argb header you can then wire into the board for control via software. This board is too cheap for that so I was relying a bit on being able to mess about with and rewire fans if required. Well all the bykski stuff also has a controller and that controller just so happens to be almost identical in terms of wiring but with different functions on the remote. So the one controller without any changes to wiring at all can control all the fans I had, plus all of the watercooling stuff.

Never bent hard tubing before so this should be fun.
