Ps3 is faster than any pc...

The only thing I must say that console has the edge in and will always have, is the fact every game made for it works out of the box to the best of its ability.

Do they really though? I have no doubt that consoles are simpler than PC's to use, but I've definitely noticed a deterioration in quality with console games. I remember going through PS1 or 2 games and being amazed when I discovered a SINGLE glitch. Glitches and bugs on modern games are much more common. I know as games get more complex, we get more and more bugs, but the playtesting and bug removal doesn't seem to be as indepth as it used to.

I have been spoilt though. I can't play on my PS3 because I notice the lack of AA and low resolution now. Stupid PC's! :D

Resolution and texture detail are the console killers right now, they lack the memory and the gpu power - MW2 on a 360 is rendered at 1024x600(?), with two years left in the 360's life cycle I wonder if we'll see 512x300 ;) . If you have a low end PC kick the resolution down and enjoy console quality graphics.

The $2000 quote is interesting, that sort of money is unlikely cover the cost of the PC in this 24 screen, 63 Megapixel demo, remember these are real pixels and not just a scaled up image. On the other hand $2000 probably will cover the cost of a triple screen capable PC(1) - if you don't like the bezels wait for the triple projector setup

We all know there's more to a game than graphics and the above links are pushing my argument to the extreme but that's not the point. The point is such marketing experiments are relatively cheap and easy to roll out on the PC and if the market bites then all is well and good. As influential as such marketing gambles can be, in the world of consoles such experimentation would be way to costly to roll out en-mass. Console technology tends towards the safe bet and I do wonder where consoles would be without the innovations made first on the PC platform?

(1) Warning, heavy weight geek alert!

Edit:
Oh, yes the ease of use question. Well, you see, it's all down to qualification and the operating system. Over to you MS...

The only thing I must say that console has the edge in and will always have, is the fact every game made for it works out of the box to the best of its ability. Whereas on a PC, trying to run that game requires certain spec of hardware and to run it smooth may also require an upgrade which can cost as much as a Console. As a PC gamer that annoys me very much.
tbh, if you are running a similar machine to consoles, most games should run at console "best of ability" out of the bok with no upgrades.... if you want better than console, you either already have a better rig, or you upgrade :)

The only way to save that vid is to say ps3 is more powerful than the majority of computers, but whats the point in saying that when most comps arent designed for gaming LoL

All the ps3 basically is, is a nvidia graphics card! How can it be more powerful than a comp with a deidcated processor, dedicated gpu, both with dedicated ram ffs!

btw i like the ps3 and my pc, just like pc better!!!

These debates have been going on for generations and I can't see them changing any time soon. Me, well I was an Atari 800 boy, owned all in 1979, Star Raiders for the win. :D

I played the mini ninjas demo on my pc (single core - 6800GPU) and it looked decent at 1280x1024. My mate bought the game on PS3 and as soon as we loaded it up the amount of jaggies made me want to gouge my eyes out, I couldn't believe how bad it looked on his PS3 compared to my 5 year old PC.

I have the PC, 360 and PS3 and I echo the sentement of most on here. Your more serious, play for an evening game play is going to be on the PC. Let alone the higher graphical setting, resolutions, the simple fact of m+kb for fps (as said in the video) is like night and day. I have MW2 on 360 and PC (dont ask why), its fun to play with some friends on the 360, but your constantly frustrated by the shots you know you would have made if you had the trusty mouse. Auto aim always feels like cheating too.

When I have some friends over, it will be the consoles that get fired up for a game of FIFA, or rockband. If you want a quality experience though, you need to go PC.

Though I do fear, PC will go pay per play at some point, am starting to think BF3 will be a ppp title (if its PC only).

Not just in gaming, but all tech is becoming more all in one. Your 360 is now a sky receiver, TV's have the ability to out put multi channel audio sound (obv not as good as a stand alone receiver). Point being the lines between them are becoming more blured.

The replacement to the PS3 and 360 I think may do a lot of damage to the PC. Am sure, we can only go so far graphically before it just doesnt matter.

I miss the whole clan comunity for the big FPS games (again hopefully BF3 can resurect that), but personally, if they do m+kb for the next gen, I may let the PC die off here.

Then again, hopefully ultra HD will move the goal posts again so that the PC maintains it's hardware advantage. Point being if the consoles manage to keep up with the PC (in the sense you cant tell the difference) that will kill PC I think.

Big lolz at this video, A PC the same price as a PS3 and a decent HD TV will always outperform the latter. I feel secure knowing that PC gaming will be alive and well in 10 years time and that triple A games will still be released for PC.

(apart from the wii's, but that's a completely different type of gaming .

pc did it back in 1996 with the Microsoft sidewinder ;)
