PS4 and Xbox Rumours

Sorry about this but can't read every post - I read that the PS4 is highly likely to be released Asis and North America at Christmas with a release in Europe in Jan / Feb next year, is this about right?

My PS3 died on me the otherday wit hteh ylod so I'm going to get a Slim this weekend or next week .

We don't know for sure yet but the rumours suggest Q4 for USA and Japan with EU to follow Q1 2014. Sony announcement on this (hopefully!) on 20th Feb.

edit: Yeah what he said!^^

you contacted sony about it ? you may get a replacement.

Oooh, no. No details like that, this early. It'll be Tokyo Game Show before they announce release dates and pricing, I would think.

feb 20th will probably just be a here it is demo and a winter 2013 release window. the proper dates will probably be released at e3 in june, for all we know sony may try and ship it just after tgs in japan as thats end of september.

Wont Microsoft be shooting itself in the foot in developing countries? Not everyone has access to the internet in this country, yet alone developing or other non top tier countries. Hope Sony don't follow suit, I think Sony are micro chipping each disk so you cant simply copy and burn pirated games.

Yeah, I wasnt aware of the Sony thing. A friend told me at work yesterday that apparently they've got a patent for some sort of tech that locks a game to a single console. =\

Seems companies are doing their best to kill the 2nd hand market and game rentals!

It could simply just be a counter piracy measure and not one to tie games to console. For all we know it could tie game to console, but then allow it to be untied and sold. So that copy of the game with its unique identity cant simply be copied and burnt. Not sure how that would work as I would assume you would need an internet connection so sony know game has been tied, could simply just be the fact you cant buy disks with chips in them, making it harder to pirate.

piracy is practically non existent on ps3 though, it took them years to hack it with the help of the jailbreak kid, but was quickly patched to fix the leak.

some people didn't update, but they miss out on online gaming, etc.

piracy is no longer any issue for sony i would think, it's so small that it hardly effects them, whereas the 360 has had a lot more issues in that regard, with custom dvd firmwares and dodgy downloading of digital versions from hacked stores.

so long as their security team put in the same amount of work into the console as it did with the ps3, it should be pretty much bulletproof. how many years did it take to hack the ps3? by that time it had already sold millions of consoles and games and only a handful of people took advantage of the loophole while it was exposed, they patches it up very quickly iirc and kept on bringing out mandatory updates every few days/weeks to counteract it.

yes because people who dont have internet access will be able to spend $400 on a console rather than food.
