PS4 and Xbox Rumours

Why not? You can bet your bottom dollar there will be heavy ties between Xbox, Windows 8, WP8 and Windows RT devices.

Sony may want to move to compete with this.
Considering how buggy and poorly implemented Android seems to be Id rather Google got their house in order way before they jumped to a console platform (in whatever form).

I actually cant think of much worse really, having a poorly optimised OS eating into precious RAM and CPU cycles that could be utilised better elsewhere, while some random social web 2.0 widget pops up while Im trying to game - if it happened I genuinely would reconsider getting a PS4. Honestly I shudder at the thought...

It makes sense for Sony to move the PS brand onto other platforms as 'free advertising', but its not really similar to what MS are doing by ensuring their foundation products are interlinked (in essence Win8 is the keystone). Sony embracing Android on the PS4 just seems to be for the benefit of Google rather a 'killer app' for Sony.

EDIT: TBH Ive read your comment and run with it somewhat but my base argument is that its in MSs best interest to make sure the products/services it owns are interlinked, considering Sony doesnt have that same relationship with Google at best it could be used as an advertising platform for both, but I just dont see the benefits to Sony for bringing Android integration to the PS4, let alone some form of OS. This is obviously outside of the fact that I presume your inference is based on MS having a mobile platform, I just dont see that that connection logically leads to Sony jumping into bed with Google with the PS4.

EDIT2: To aid discussing, now someone like Valve actually could be more interesting/useful - perhaps using the Steam platform as a replacement PSN store.

ps3ud0

Android is so fragmented in its presentation I'd hate for that to be the basis for a console which I'm going to spend hundreds of hours per month using. There's no reason that the PS4 would need implementation with Google, certainly not just because Microsoft are linking their products together. You can be sure we'll have the on demand video services and the usual big apps like Facebook and YouTube, I can't see why Sony would need to team up with Google in a console war.

Sony fanboy for around 15 years here. But have also now obtained an Xbox, excited for both titles but i feel your quoted price is way out.

Im expecting to see £400+ price tags, if not more. I remember getting a ps3 for my 18th birthday, near enough launch week for the ps3 in the UK, was like £550!

I wonder if there will be new score/trophies for the new consoles or will you just add to the current ones. My guess would be that you'll add to the current ones like Sony did with the Vita. People just starting off with a console would argue it's unfair probably and want a fresh start though.

It will remain the same.

People arguing it's unfair are idiots. It's a number that means nothing.

Such trashy rumours , there is no way the new consoles will even have that type of power in them, id expect them to have a a year or two previous tech in them (in pc terms) bc generally thats all they need.

RAM will probably be high as thats what devs are crying out the most for.

oh and in the case of xbox if they dont do backwards compat from the 360 and allow you to still play your xbox live purchases they might as well say goodbye to my money.

Android is booming and will continue to do so.

it is a brilliant OS that is stable, quick and flashy.

i would love a Android OS on a ps4. it will certainly beat sony's own efforts hands down.

Xbox 3 will indeed have windows 8 of some flavour on it and many people bitch and moan about win 8 too.

BC doesn't bother me, either. Even when I have had the functionality in the past the older games always become redundant after awhile. I intend to keep my 360 and PS3 anyway.

I do wonder though if Live accounts will carry over, though. I think that just might happen.

I really don't get why BC is such a big deal for some people, it's a new console, move on and play the games meant for it.

If you really must still keep playing your old games, just keep your existing console alongside it (awaits the "it's not practical to have 2 consoles and I don't have room" brigade)

Of course they will, same with current PSN accounts.

Live carried over from Xbox to the 360 so no question it will carry over to a new console, it would be madness to start again for MS.
