PS4 and Xbox Rumours

It's not a stupid argument because it wasn't an argument. It's stupid you thought it was an argument. It's an observation, just as it's an observation that I don't know anyone that uses them on platform games since the NES either.

The three people that still play fighting games use Joysticks.

The dpad is used in a lot of games. Just recently I had trouble in Metro 2033 (in before "you should be using mouse+kb"). In that game you have to hold UP or DOWN for a second to change gear.

Trying to hold UP or DOWN (only) results in diagonal inputs most of the time (ie UP-LEFT or DOWN-RIGHT).

On my (non-transforming) pad trying just to input one of the four primary directions is nigh-on impossible.

Whilst the D-pad is not be very good it's perfectly usable. Also the x/y/z buttons have a plasticky feel to them too.

I've always said a combination of both the 360 and PS3 pad would = the perfect pad. Sony build quality, quality plastics and smooth buttons and xbox pad shape, triggers and ergonomics. (not bothered about placement of analogue sticks, either are fine with me)

And dare I say it, the DS4 looks to have hit the nail on the head.

It's a minor argument (basically just fighting games) everything else really doesn't use the d-pad except for simple stuff like changing weapons. I've never had a problem with the d-pad.

Lolwhut? I only dropped my DS3 once and there's bits rattling round inside of it. :D My 360 pad has hit the deck more times than I've had hot dinners and there's nothing making any noises inside it.

I wasn't aware your particular DS3 was reflective of all Sony pads around the world ..... :)

Anyhow I personally prefer the quality/feel of the plastics, buttons etc of the DS3 over that on the ones on my Xbox pad. Secondly it's not exactly surprising Sony has a higher standard when it comes comes to build quality given all the troubles the 360 has faced.

This guy usually has pretty reliable sources..

Apparently Microsoft is launching a 99$ Xbox 360 codenamed "Stingray" this November alongside of the Next Xbox.
According to Paul this is because the next Xbox isn't going to offer backwards compatibility for 360 games.

He mentions that it's going to be expensive. Apparently around 500$ for a normal unit, or 300$ for a subscription model.
It was also relayed to him that the device does indeed require a constant internet connection to function

Same guy that mentioned the delayed MS conference, Ive followed his site for ages for Windows stuff and found him pretty accurate and not that sensational for that - cant see why he wouldnt be for Xbox stuff either...

So as usual the conversion will be £500 here. I just can't see it, or the always on rumour. It would be console suicide against a cheaper earlier launched console. We saw that last time around, have they become that arrogant because they had the lead for a small amount of time due to the delay in the other console launching?

Can't wait for something, anything official :)

T-64 days until Microsoft's press conference at E3.

EDIT: I thought the launch date of the 360 was announced at E3 2005 but I was wrong. The exact date for the North American launch was not revealed until September 15, 2005. Two months beforehand. I guess the same will apply this time around.

Got to ask for people still doubting, if the Creative Director of MS Studios (who Ill remind you solely develop and publish games for MS platforms) has a very public breakdown with a game developer about why its ok to have a device that requires an always on internet connection and then MS apologises for the way those comments came across but doesnt make any attempt to deny the content; that this isnt 'official' enough to suppose that this is a factual account of one of the features for the next Xbox?

I normally would err on caution, but this seems rather self-explanatory to need to be. Who needs a pinch to wake up? ;). Of course this might be the point where they do a '180' (cough) and change that decision before any announcement...

I'm still reeling at the price estimated in that link...will be a straight conversion if true to £500, that's lol money if I'm honest. Add some games and it's £600.....

Interesting to know more about $300 and then subscription, so could that be console sub+live sub per month?

The one thing I wish they never did was bundle kinect 2.0 with it. Should have been an optional accessory.

If it is just a Live sub then count me in for $300 (£300). I just hope they've bumped the specs up to PS4 standards.

£300 would be an attractive price for me personally, I only wish both consoles had backward compatibility as it would mean one less device being needed underneath the TV, but I'm guessing it's a necessary cut if we want these machines to be anywhere near reasonably priced. The $500 unit sounds interesting though, if they are bringing out a console where you won't need to purchase the subscription on top then I'd probably end up waiting a while and going for that one when the price dropped a bit.

Same here, just hope they don't wan t a console sub too.

It'll be £300 or whatever for the console, plus £6 Xbox Live plus an additional £10 for the console each month. Something like that.

I wouldn't be interested in paying a sub for the actual console at all, paying for XBL is something I can agree with, paying for something I've already paid for? I don't think it's likely that will be the case. I would've thought $300 is for the console, then you carry on paying your XBL subscription just like the 360, with the $500 model having a subscription already linked to it somehow.
