Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Glad I’m still on annual leave this weekend. As you know how some customers can’t cope with us closed! Even though they don’t normally shop on Mondays! If you only shop once or twice a week, you don’t need to go nuts about buying more food.

Simple!

Turning the TV off and not watching it is another option though?
Or be fortunate to be abroad this time. This holiday I’m on at the moment was originally booked in Jan 2020. Postponed twice and had three birthdays since.

Just one of those things that the Queen died the day before my holiday.

My parents messaged me to say that they watching tv they recorded weeks ago.

Been watching lots of old footage of the queen. I tell you what, when she met Marilyn Manroe damn could she hold her own!

There was one interview the queen did with school children. When she was asked the question "do you like being the queen" she paused, her face dropped and she avoided the question. I'd like to think she at least made peace with it, 70 years is a long time doing a job you hate. I know she was 'forced' into it, and had a monumental sense of duty, but hopefully she came to enjoy it. Can't have been easy for her.

Whilst I'm fully supportive of a republic I don't think this is the thread for this sort of discussion?
I wonder whether the Daily Mail/Express/Telegraph gutter press will use this moment to turn on the Monarchy...

They've had an incredible run tearing down British traditional values and institutions but the Queen was untouchable. Charles, with his climate policies and his areas of vulnerability, might represent an easier and higher value target.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it, and then to see a change in attitude from the usual suspects so cognitively vulnerable their opinions are dictated to them.
