Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Had a quick look at the stream and it's crazy how people are queuing for so long, then just walking straight past and it's all over in a few seconds. Is it worth it?

Personally I don't have a care in the world about the Queen, glad I'm currently abroad on holiday so avoid all the madness!

I don't think the state processes will change - the length of time for a state funeral wouldn't suddenly become a tick-tock length

So, has anyone who started off being full of sorrow and mourning come around to the idea that maybe the reaction and media coverage over the last few days has been somewhat hysterical?

Anyone become a republican yet?

No, my slight sorrow etc has abated somewhat, but I think it's great to have the media totally blanketted out with this for as long as possible IMO, forcing people to have a break from the normal media circus is a good thing, not a bad thing.

The reaction from the entire world has been an order of magnitude higher than I expected and a week or so of the world reflecting on this has many benefits and probably brings everyone closer together...

So many positives, they probably outweight the miniscule inconvenience people have to exprience, and most get a nice day off to put their feet up, are you suggesting I should be fighting against all this? ;)

No one is ever going to have a monarch reigning for 70 years in their lifetime ever again.
Actually if lifespans extend in future it would be very feasible to have a monarch reigning for longer than that, assuming the British Monarchy as an institution survive the next couple of centuries.

For me it was as I wanted to be 'part of history'. I was in there for 5mins as i was able to see the changing of the guard which started just as I was starting to walk out. A few of us waited by the huge door to wait for the guard change process to finish.

The 3-4 hour wait in the zig zags (there are 2 big ones) wasn't great but I switched on Disney Plus at that point for a couple of hours and I was fine.

It helps that everyone in the queue was good spirited, supportive, friendly and I didn't see anyone give up along the way - all determined to see the Queen.

I had an orange wristband (012262) and the yellow ones were first, i think, with each colour having 50k wristbands. I was approx 62k or so in.

When you leave you kinda feel like not going home. I actually walked to Buckingham Palace to have a look. The whole area is filled with so many policeman, military and even cadets/scouts. Each road had barriers down and a combo of military/police guards.

I also saw the next batch of troops with their uniforms loading on coaches to do their 20min shift so watched them onload for a bit.

EDIT: I was actually by myself as no-one was interested in coming with me. :o Certainly realising, and i am sure many have discovered this, which of their friends are not into the Royals/don't care/hate them. :p

I can upload queue pictures but yeah...it is just pictures of people. I have a few nice pics of the usual landmarks but yeah, can't believe its over.

The Spanish media are saying that us Brits are angry about the cost of the funeral etc. Not heard anything from the British media about this. I suspect that other countries’ media are making up similar stories.

I saw the 'meme' flying around about how much it'll cost to replace E.R on everything, stamps, postboxes etc.

I mean, its 70 years. Some countries have to change things around way more reguarly. :p
