Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

I had to do a double take on this... Are you seriously meaning that you'll record onto VHS or optical media as it's broadcast? Do you not have internet? Youtube will archive every millisecond of BBC coverage for hundreds of years after your dust.

when would they ever watch it back

it’s not like a movie

I don’t think that’s what he meant

It will definitely be the end of the era when she finally passes.

I do have a box set saved for the occasion though, as the news coverage will be extensive on most channels, like when Prince Philip died!
Sombre music, most normal TV stopped for a week or more of National Mourning. That’s what I’m not looking forward to and I have a generally positive impression of the Royals.

can’t wait for ‘Gibbo’ to resurface! https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...-queens-death-came-from-yeovil-military-drill

Can’t see TV stopping in this day and age. The youngsters would have a fit if they couldn’t get their fix of Love Island, Towie, Geordie shore or whatever other crap that masquerades as entertainment these days.

Did you just mention VHS? In 2021?

Most Public broadcasting channels, pretty much BBC, ITV CH4 & 5 will be adjusting programming and making edits for around that time. Perhaps some of the other cable channels ma continue but will be editing potentially upsetting content.

I hope the BBC have learned some lessons from Phillip's death; there was zero need to have a simulcast of exactly the same thing on BBC1 and BBC2; it was ridiculous.

Won't happen this month.

Okay next month or the month after. Would June's bank holiday get cancelled or since it was announced so far in advance because people need to plan/organise for it, that it would be too late to cancel it at short notice?

I don't envy the Queen, or anyone in the Royal Family.

Sure they have money and within reason they can have what they want, but they have no freedom really.
