Quest 2, Which WiFi6 Router?

Yeah thought it might be something like that thanks. Just looking at the AX55 only £90 at the moment. I will wait and see how it goes with my existing setup first then consider a dedicated router.

The Ax55 is great, I am using one myself as a dedicated Quest 2 router.

I didn't have much luck with my Honor Wifi6 router, as the range seemed pretty short, but I had to setup a wired connection into a spare bedroom recently for a work-from-home PC, and as my old router couldn't seem to give me the full internet speed (I have 350mbit, but was only getting 200mbit wired), I used my cable modem as the primary router and then used the Honor as a bridge in the spare room which is much closer to my lounge than my attic where my gaming PC is located, and I get full internet speed wired.

Now I can get a pretty decent Wifi6 signal, and PC games are playable!

I still get the odd jitter and notice the blockyness from streaming occasionally, but I can play my PC games in a larger space, which is great. Nice to have the option. Plus I can also sit on the bed in the spare bedroom and stream movies from virtual desktop better.

@Mr Badger been playing with the Quest 2 today and with the BT Wifi disc in the lounge underneath the spare bedroom where I am I get a solid 866Mbps 5ghz connection. Not had much chance to play other things will do that tomorrow when kids are back at school. Virtual Desktop with my 6900xt works very well. Tried Trials of Tattooine and plays that really well with Ultra settings, 90fps, 12/15ms latency.

Thank you for the info. 5/866 is what I'm getting direct from the router, so I will be happy to get that from the WiFi disc.

:) Sorry Varkanoid, My post wasn't laughing at you. Well, Maybe a little :p Just, it's another rookie mistake. That Latency measurement isn't the in game latency. It's the desktop latency. To see the actual in game latency you have to go into the Streaming section in the Virtual desktop menu and enable the "performance Overlay" It will show your FPS, whether there is reprojection of not and it will also show your overall latency and the latency at various parts of the pipeline. Like encoding, decoding, game and network.

anyone got any suggestions for a decent budget router on Amazon? Vodafone one we have at home is awful and it struggles to keep stable wifi signal for the firestick etc let alone the Q2, also cant separate 2.4/5ghz channels on the VF router anymore since the last update which makes it even worse due to its "smart software" dont need one with all the bells, as long as its functional with decent speeds/signal. (good for Q2 would be a bonus) budget around £60/80 ish can go more if worth it. Thanks in advance!

would this be any good?

So are you saying this would be a good option to add as a second router dedicated for the Quest 2? And would I just need this second router and a LAN cable to add it to my BT Smart Hub and run it to any room where I use VR?

Yeah I use one as do a few other Quest 2 owners I think. Its the Honor version but its near identical. The only device that connects to it is the Quest 2 on Wifi 6, my PC is wired to the Honor router, which is wired to the main router for internet.

Though I am playing in areas that have near enough line of sight with the router and within 10 metres.

So it's cable from the PC to the dedicated VR router (HUAWEI AX3 AX3000 in the VR play area) then cable from the dedicated VR router to the main router (BT Smart Hub 2) which is connected to broadband?

Yup, Honor router here in middle, PC is wired into this(actually goes round the outside of the house as could not run a cable inside), Honor router wired to the UDR main router(right of the hamster thing) which is wired to the black virgin hub on the left behind the Furby.

The main thing is wiring the PC directly to the Honor and being in good range of the Honor wifi.

Interesting. I was looking at using a BT Whole Home WiFi disc, quite possibly wired direct to the router, but I'm now wondering if this is the better solution.

A router solely for the Quest 2 is always the better solution. The Router that you intend to use as a dedicated router, should be connected, with at least CAt5e cable, back to the main home router and to the PC that you are using for PCVR.

The BT disc (£30) I have is Wifi 5 so potentially the added router would be better seeing as it's Wifi 6.I might get that router seeing as it's £30.

@chroniclard be careful quoting a competitor I have been suspended for less. Might be best to remove the link as OCUK sell routers.

I wonder how much original boxed furbies are worth these days?

I had a go using air link for the first time and it was a mixed bag. Being able to play in the lounge with more space was great, the bit rate was not great. I'm now looking to get a new or supporting router. I'll be standing in the same room as the router.

I have my PC (3700X 6800XT 32GB) upstairs connected up using Home Plugs. Is this also going to be a problem? I could ultimately build a mini pc in the lounge using a i7 4770 and a 2070 super that I have that I could then wire directly into this new router?
