Got enough for a DFGT from the bay? supposedly the wheel itself is better than the G25 with the exception of the paddles and not as expensive as a second hand G25 or new wheel?

Any decent deals/discounts on iracing subs for a returning member?

I paid up for the first year but haven't played since... but have just got a nice deal on a gt3rs and a set of clubsports to replace my DFGT+g25pedals so might as well put them to some use.

The DFGT (I've had one a year or two) is really very good, but if you've had a G25 the pedals will be a bit of a let-down, especially if you use the clutch. Not sure about the G25 (never had one) but the DFGT is a decent amount quieter than the DFP (also a good second hand candidate for you - sold mine recently) and the wheel is bigger, which gives it a much better feel. However, the G27 (got mine last week) is just so much better in every way. It's really very quiet too, which I was surprised by. Also, with the G27 (and I imagine the G25 too), the gearing is so smooth and quick that you can switch to opposite lock fast, which makes rally games SO much more playable than with the DFP or DFGT. DiRT 2 is brilliant (despite not being a sim!).

Not that I know of, unfortunately deals for existing members are quite rare, almost all the deals are for new signups. One thing that might be worth mentioning is until tomorrow I think it is they're running a deal where you if you buy $20 credits you get $5 extra free, and if you buy $75 credits you get $25 free, not much but might save a bit...

I believe you can use the G25 pedals with the DFGT in some way, I'm unsure of the details but worst case scenario getting a 'bodnar box' and running them independently from the USB would be a decent solution, running DFGT wheels + G25 pedals was kinda what I was thinking of when I wrote that post.

Ive got a DFGT and wouldnt mind the same thing. Finding g25 pedals is a bit hard to come across though.

Hmm its possible i could do that, took my g25 apart last night, and its actually the left motor with the steering pointometer or infrared box on the end, thats actually fried, motor is supposed to be smooth but its nothcy and stops about half way, so my guess is the magnets have failed or some copper wire has unwound itself - ill have a look at some of the cheaper wheel sets, But 4 years with my g25, and i use the h shifter all the time, not sure how i would adjust to a seq type thing on the wheel :(

Is the G27 generally considered to be the best option for wheels? The Fanatecs look nice but expensive and I've heard of people having lots of issues with them.

I'm building a pc for sim racing after years of playing on console so any tips on what games to get. I'm guessing rfactor, Richard Burns Rally, GTR Evo etc. Crammonds GP4 appears to have some amazing F1 mods despite the games age. Anyone played it recently and is it worth buying?

I will definately be trying the iRacing free trial but I dont thik I can afford the subscription and content costs at the moment.

I've just been emailed a code for a years sub for $50 (iracing) so there are some good deals for 'returning' members
Really? That's an awesome deal, how did it come about? I still get my iracing newsletters etc but don't have any deals like that..

Quite interested in iRacing now, I've known about it for a couple of years now but it's never really interested me because I hate things where you need to pay monthly/annually. The way they've generated the tracks and overall realism are starting to catch my interest a lot more recently so I might take up the "2 months for free" special offer tomorrow.

rFactor has always annoyed me, it had the potential and I wasn't really bothered about graphics because I just wanted something realistic but needing to download cars and tracks put me off it.

I think I've got most of the other racing simulators, or at least the ones everyone recommends so there's only iRacing left to try. It'll give my G25 a work out anyway.

I've always liked rfactor but after iracing I just cannot go back to it. You've gotta luv the fact that you press RACE/TT/TEST and it works straight out the box, updates are all sorted for you, even running 3 monitors can be edited ingame.

I've only used the G25 but from what I've read the G27 is the 'solid' option, the wheel is quite good, the pedals are good and the reliability is good (and if anything does break there's lots of good reports of Logitechs customer service, even outside the warranty)

On the other hand the Fanatec wheels are supposed to be a bit better, but there are quite a few reports of poor reliability/build quality, and some very bad reports about customer service. also note that the basic Fanatec pedals are apparantly quite poor, you need to get the Clubsports it seems, which are then better than the G25/7 pedals.

Personally if my wheel was the break today I'd get myself a G27 without even considering fanatec, it's just the safe option...

I'm not sure what I'd do if my DFP packs up, it's already a few years old now as I got it for Gran Turismo 4.

I've no need for pedals as I've the plans and all the parts ready to make CST's, it's a shame Logitech don't sell the wheels separately.

Ive found the fanatec wheel(belt driven) and clubsports tobe a lot smoother than my G27, but the basic fanatec pedals are pants. My mates got two sets sitting around due to problems and fanatec let him have a set of clubsports for £99 just to keep him sweet. They do take quite abit of setting up to get them just how you want them, but when you've cracked it they are awesome.Clubsport pedals are the same price as a complete G27,say no more.

If your just after a wheel then I'd got Fanatec

I've just signed up for 3 months of iRacing (for the price of 1), although my username is Firstname Lastname2. I've realised that I tried it before, albeit it on an old email account. How do they know I'm the same person? It's silly I know, but having '2' after my name looks crap :(

Scary, the name is taken from your credit card/paypal account used to set it up. I also did the same thing a few months ago, ended up having to have my nickname as my first name which I think looks ridiculous, but I can't get it changed.

Support have told me that they can't rename my 2 year old unused account to something (name name2, for example), and then rename my real account to my name. The excuse they have given is that once a name has been entered into the database, it can't be used again, even if it's removed, which is idiotic if true, and a terrible lie if false, but there we go.

I did ask if I signed up for an account with the name "Jimmie Johnson" and then the real JJ signed up, would he not be able to get his real name, but I didn't get a reply.

Oh well that's damn annoying :(

I've contacted support anyway, but I guess I'll try and renew my old account instead. That's $12 down the pan.
