Racing Simulators

Tracks I have in my available list are:
limerock
charlottemotorspeedway
lanierspeedway
laguna-seca
oxfordplains
silverstone
southbostonspeedway
summitpoint-raceway
thompsonspeedway

My preference is for road rather than oval but I'll go with the majority.

I don't mind paying for an event every now and then. $3 aint much.

From my experience, the protest system is absolutely useless in iRacing, it's never worth the bother actually sending a protest. Unless they swear, though, then they get perma-banned. Obviously swearing is worse than wrecking, cheating or exploiting in iRacing.

Whatever the result is it's worth protesting imo, yeah he probably won't be punished for that incident in isolation but if he keeps getting protested he might get punished, taking the attitude of 'there's no point' just means he definitely won't get punished...

As for an OcUK race, I vote for the advanced legends around charlotte infield road :D

Wouldn't it be better to keep it to one of the lower class cars that everyone has driven and has experience of? Will make for better racing. Plus, I only have access to those ones due to my shocking SR :(

You can drive any car you want in a hosted session, irrespective of your licence level.

Beware the Jump Start - got spanked tonight with a Drive in Pit because I'm too bizzy looking for the light to pop up....what a noob. Spent a whole race with the front runners breathing down make neck from Lap 2 of 30(but just didn't get lapped ...phew)

There is some ENGLAND hosted races if you look in the england forum - anyone can join and it's running MX5's

Yay me; cockpit view towards the end, I got carried away with the angles!

Wow, that is bang out of order. Some people (that don't have many wins) will get really defensive and violent if they lose on the last few corners. I've had a couple of knobs do similar stuff on the last corner, that is about as protest worthy as I've ever seen.

Good job though, I bet you felt like the daddy after that last turn :)

Really am missing iracing right now, I need a new PC :(

For me one of the main reason to fork on a subscription service like iracing would be the premise of enforced clean racing. If there's a lot of this going on I might as well just stick to the bumper cars you get in any other online racing game.

I'd say that this was a very rare occurance especially once you've got out of the rookie leagues.

Yeah, driving like that is rare, I've had one guy do stuff to me that's been protest-worthy, and protested one other guy who didn't affect me but took someone out intentionally, that's in 281 road and 192 oval races over the past 2.5 years.

It's probably more likely to happen in the rookie series like that, although both mine happened in D class, but generally speaking outside of rookie races the racing is clean and fair almost all the time, ime, because people like him will struggle to even get to D class

I agree with skill there.. generally its super clean and no intentional crashing, as with any racing there are mistakes out braking themselves and hitting, you or the opponent could get into a tank slapper and contact happens,or the crashes which happen quite frequently due to many of the above reasons ..most of the time all of that can be anticipated, by reading the cars behaviour and general racing conduct, and avoid them or give them extra room to settle down.

Does iracing restrict you to using interior/cockpit view when racing? Is bonnet cam available? I use cockpit cam in RacePro sometimes but I'm slower and dont feel very confident of my track position.

That is the first instance I've had of aggressive driving.

I had an email back and they said that it looks like the crash was an accident and not caused by either driver. I don't think it helped that all I had was the video, rather than the actual replay file.

Well, that's disappointing, It's quite obvious it was deliberate, at least after the first contact, can't see how anyone can think otherwise o_O

Shame. It looked intentional to me. Having had a browse through the iRacing forums, general opinion is Protesting is pointless but recommended.

I'll be up for some OcUK races as well. I agree with keeping it on a standard track that everyone knows. In a car that everyone has raced in.

Also, If you manage to race in the top split in the Rookie series you'll find the racing clean as well. 95% of the grid is D-license upwards. The racing there is much tougher though.

I don't actually think Nim reads any protests any more, I think it's just an automatic 'Racing accident' e-mail that get's sent out. That video you posted is absolutely blatant, how he think's it's not intentional I don't know. It seems you have to drive backwards on the track or swear at someone to get into trouble.

This was the response:

Dear Nick,

Going forward, please provide a replay with your protest, not a video. A cut replay allows us to look at the incident from any angle and view other information that may be helpful

We appreciate you taking the time to file this protest and providing a replay of the incident. After reviewing the replay, we understand your frustration, but we do not feel either driver caused the accident intentionally or with malice. From what I could see in your long view video, there is slight contact and then due to lag there could be different reactions on both ends that do not allow the cars to get away from each other.
The ratings and licensing systems are the main policing agents of the service. We also offer drop races to help recover from the incident. If you race in more than one race your worst result will be dropped from the points total in that week. All members receive incidents for which they are not at fault. Drivers who consistently make good decisions will find it easy to improve their iRating and License Level. Drivers who do not will have to improve their driving and possibly their outlook to do the same. You can learn more about the no fault incident system, ratings systems, and the philosophies behind those systems by reading the iRacing Sporting Code found here.

http://membersmedia.iracing.com/pdfs/FIRST_Sporting_Code_v2011.02.18.01.pdf

For these reasons we will not be moving forward with this protest.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Enjoy your racing,

Nim Cross

I can understand replays being better than video's, (would be even better if other cars had their input recorded on the replay as well), but I disagree that 'lag' could cause that...
