Racing Simulators

Yeah, that's a stock e-mail response (with an added sentence to personalise it). I've been kinda getting the impression that they don't actually want to hold people accountable for being idiots, simply because if they do then they lose out on subscription and content money.

Been having a great run lately and got my SR up to 4.49 in C class. So I went and bought the Lotus and maaaaan that thing is nuts!!!

What wheels are you guys using? or are some of you using an xbox pad?

Was thinking of saving for the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel and having a pop at Iracing. Might take a few months to get the funds though :(

Ive just bought myself a subscription, 3 months for $12. Like it so far but not sure how I find races. Is it a case of waiting until the race start time and then joining a session a few minutes before?

Lots of good rF2 info here, and a very promising video covering the tyre model. I don't expect this to come out any time soon, but now I'm a lot more excited than I was half an hour ago.

PS Mutt, you can register for a race up to half an hour before it starts, but then you have to remember to join otherwise the race goes ahead with you registered as coming last (if you practice on your own after registering there's a helpful countdown timer).

If you have a search through the (iRacing) forums you'll probably find all sorts of help given to other new drivers. Navigating and understanding the iRacing interface can take quite a while, so there's no shortage of people asking what might seem like "daft" questions. Fortunately for every idiot who says "read the sporting code!" there's another who realises iRacing is a bit opaque for new members.

Hmmm been thinking of moving from C but I'm looking for something thats still fun to drive without being mental, recommend anything?

The lotus was the only B car I bought, it was more out of curiosity then anything else. Also got the star mazda as well and that seems a bit more sane as it has great downforce.

Think I may try the V8 or the Mazda as I only need 2 two tracks to run the series

The v8 is a total pig to drive fast for every lap, plus it punishes you very badly for a small mistake and is nasty on tires if you try too hard.

Even with a decent setup its still not the easiest car to master, if you get a downshift wrong your in a spin, too much throttle your spinning, too much curb your gone, the list goes on, unless of course you can catch the mistakes then its all good, but when your in a field of 12 others, the last thing you want to be doing is fighting the car lap after lap.

Seems somebody (presumably from here) used me as referral, just got a code for $10, cheers :)

Also just finished my second skippy race of the day, I'd almost forgotten how much fun Watkins Glen could be, and in that last race some mad Spanish bloke decided to make it 3-wide into the Carousel, I was sure we were all gonna crash horribly but surprisingly not, however the nutter did get my position (we both passed the guy on the outside, almost feel sorry :p) so in a lap or two I repaid the favour making it 3-wide again, got the place back.

14th (I'm one of those pesky ones that don't qualify :p) to 4th, best race I've had in a while :D

Pesky indeed, i usually find those are the ones that speed through and usually crash 2 corners later after getting to the front lol. 38th in the Mx5 series standings, pretty pleased with that to be honest.
