Racing Simulators

Since they were updated there isn't much difference between the mazdas performance wise now.

Limerock - I'd say aiming for sub 1.10 runs should be easily achievable
Okayama Short - Again around sub 1.10 for someone new to the game

They are RHD and LHD models :p

are you on sever 777 yet Rob?

EDIT: I'll leave it open until 9:20 then I've got to go.

( I think sub 1:05 to be competitive at Okayama)

Im there atm :p

Just been watching you, your trying to move the car too much - especially from what I saw turn two and three, the line is right, but you try and throw the car too much so your wide on t3. Hard to explain the line into the hairpin so I tried to show you. Also the penultimate bend don't go over the curb if you can help it. Too bad I spent most of the lap looking in my mirror and nearly came off a turn one!

Thanks for the advice, will give it another shot tomorrow. I just switched to the RHD mazda and am finding that abit easier :p. Immediatley got my time down to 1.03.1 with a rather messy lap. I was going to rejoin but would only let me use LHD mazda(the cup car).

Missed this last night, I'd be happy to enter a practice session tonight for the MX-5's and offer what advice I can, been a while since I drove them but shouldn't take me too long to get back up to speed,

I think it's quite common, especially coming from a very forgiving game like GT5, to push 'too hard', you really need to be smooth, and the old saying of "slow in, fast out" is very relevant still.

Yeah, you're best off trying to be smooth at first and then building up the pace gradually. It's especially important in cars like the skip or on the longer races where tire wear becomes an issue.

Once you're up to race pace I strongly advise trying to qualify as high as you can as it gives you a much better chance of surviving the race without having someone ram into you.

Anyone in the higher splits for the skip and if so how clean are they? I really like driving the car but there seems to be a lot of idiots in the splits I'm in currently. Yesterday I had someone dive-bomb me into the chicane on Zandavoort. He came from so far back that even though I saw him coming and gave him room he couldn't even make the corner and just rammed me off the road.

I'm generally in the highest split for the skippy, not raced much this season (other than a win and a second place at Okayama, been concentrating on TT's for some reason) but they're generally very good quality racers, even doing what I did last season and starting at the back and working your way through, but there are of course the odd idiot.

In that incident in particular if you noticed him coming in hot was there no chance of keeping straight for a bit longer, iirc at that corner there's a fair bit of tarmac run off? Just a thought as if he was massively too hot like you say you could watch him sail into the gravel/wall which is always more amusing than being the target :p

Yeah in hindsight I probably should have just given him the whole track and laughed as he ran off into the gravel. First time anyone's properly dive bombed me though so it was a learning experience I suppose.

Never driven this weeks track for the Skip so looking forward to having a go at it tonight. At least I don't think I have, can't remember what it is now!

I generally run in the second highest split and the races are pretty clean. Make sure you qualify and do your best to qualify near the front. The guys at the front will more likely want to win, will want to protect SR and iR so chances are it'll be cleaner. You'll always get the odd donought regardless of Class and Split rating. My advise would be to keep it clean and forget about finishing high. Just finish with 0 incidents, concentrate on getting quicker and you'll end up in the higher splits in no time.

I always make sure to give people that are obviously going to try a dive bomb plenty of room. I've even stopped on track to watch a guy go sailing into a barrier in a ball of fast moving smoke. As SKILL says. Its much more amusing.

I think I worry too much about finishing high at the moment. I end up pushing myself too hard and running off the road which doesn't help SR or my IR. Definitely need to put more effort into Qualifying as it does make a massive difference. I made an effort to Qualify well at Okayama and I ended up winning twice which was nice.

I cant for the life of me get around Lime Rock park without ending up off the track at some stage. Doing the tt's to get my SR up.

I think tomorrow I'm going to try and just get around the track slowly without coming off at all and take it from there.

I'm liking Mosport in the skippy. As you say fast flowing undulating corners with blind turn ins makes for an exciting track.

Hopefully having my first race at the above tonight.
