Shall I buy iRacing? I'm not that great of a fast driver but i'm getting bored of Live For Speed and can't stand Need For Speed Shift 2. rFactor is just dated aswell.
So how is iRacing for novices?
As Borrish said it's costly, I think in the 3 years I've been playing I've spent over $800 on content/subscriptions, plus moved to triple screens, done 2 pc upgrades and bought the G25 wheel
You'll also need to put in a decent amount of time, the MX5 isn't too bad to learn but the Skippy can be a bit tricky till you get the hang of it, and most of the other cars have their quirks that make them need a bit of practice to be consistent.
But in return you get the best sim software out there, decent updates every 3 months, and the best 'pick up and play' online racing (eg non-league stuff, the league stuff is there but there's no real benefits to that compared to other sims other than the basic sim software)
For me, worth it easily, especially when compared to real life racing, I race motorbikes and that costs ~£500 a weekend, so this is far cheaper and the feeling you get during/after a good race is surprisingly close to what I feel when I finish a good motorbike race (slightly less fear in iRacing for some reason
)
