I generally don't bother with splits etc, I used to with iSpeed before the in-game splits, but I found that whilst it was great for going for ultimate lap times it was unhelpful for races/qualifying as I'd be constantly pushing to gain time, I generally go just as quick but more consistent if I just forget about times and go for a lap, which is kinda odd...
I also found that without looking at splits I was going for lines that may not be the absolute quickest (we're talking tiny sub-tenth differences though) but that are 'easier' for me to hold, some of the ultimate quickest lines are borderline as to whether I'll make it out the otherside or not
