Racing Simulators

Damn missed that hosted session as I was running some test laps at Lame Rock myself . Managed to knock a second off my PB which is now 58.45. Sadly I doubt I'll be able to sustain that as I'm not consistent enough and crash every 3 - 4 laps.

Still don't like this track but shows that I'm improving with the Skip compared with last season.

I have a question about Divisions. I'm currently in the top 10 of mine. Is there a promotion/demotion shuffle at the end of each season, for example: where the top 25 move up from a lower div to higher and vice versa?

I might have to get back in to iRacing now they have Brands and Oulton is coming, I like the look of the V8's and the MX5 because I've actually test driven a new MX5 race car around Brands.

My only issue is i'm not a massive fan of open wheel, I like tin tops myself and there only a few 'good' ones in the game!

Can someone tell me which cars race on Brands?

That seems so wrong, I thought a dormant account lasts forever so when you rejoin you get back all your old paid for content. I let my account lapse for a few months and when I came back that was how it worked for me.

It's not the best track in the skippy, I'm happy to have gotten a 57 (which is a fairly decent improvement on my PB) but doubt I'll race or even TT (which I'm gonna win my division for, go me \o/)

The divisions are set at the beginning of each season based on iRating, this is semi-broken as it means if you get even semi-good you'll be chucked into division 1/2 and not stand a chance of getting a decent result which ruins it, imo...

Cause I'm bored at work I've just had a look and the following cars run about brands:
Star Mazda
Lotus
GT Championship (Corvette Fixed Setup)
Prototype and GT Challenge (Corvette and Radical SR8)

Note that that's season 2, I believe they generally introduce 'big' changes to the schedule on the 2->3 and 4->1 transitions, with the other ones being minor tweaks, we won't know exactly what season 3 holds for another month or so...

Just tried to recover my old account and it appears to no longer exist... I'll have to start over with the newbs?! :x

That's odd, it should definitely be there, probably worth contacting support before you start a new account, especially if you had some content on that one...

Ran the Nationwide at Daytona last night and it was really fun. MUCH better then the Carburetor Cup and we managed a nice long run without cautions. Unfortunately it did end under one though :( The advanced setup is like trying to drive a fast kangaroo for some reason. You also seem to need to steer the car a lot to get it to turn. I'm not sure if this is down to the set-up or the tyre model.

I'm guessing it's expensive then? Link doesn't seem to have a price which is never a good sign...lol.

To get a complete wheel (bearing in mind it's not assembled!) is about 250,000 YEN which is about £3,800.

The pedal kit is 143,000 YEN (£1,100)

The shifter another 13,000 YEN which is about £100 for the cheapest they do (sequential) H-Pattern is 38,000 YEN (nearly £300).

Then you've got to pay shipping and any tax/duty etc. on top of that.

Not cheap. :)

think the wheel is something like $1500, dunno about pedals,

tbh for pedals you really want CST's:

One day I'll have several hundred just lying around and get me a set :p

They are still only spring loaded. The FREX pedals are actually hydraulic, and you can adjust the sensitivity of the actual brake, not just the angle/axis precision. E.g. you can actually have stiff brakes, or loose brakes. :)

The CST's are, or have the option of, Load Cells for the brakes don't they?

Taking that into account does a real hydraulic system really add much more, and surely it would be un-servo'd whilst most race cars will be servo based which is going to affect the feel? Who knows, it's unlikely I'll bother upgrading my G25 pedals for a good while yet :p

I'll admit I've not read much about the Frex pedals (read a bit about the wheel, do want), one downside with the Frex stuff does seem to be the support, seemingly down to the language barrier more than anything, at least the american option speaks something vaquely similar to english :)

You could go racing for real with that kind of money...

Not for long, my motorbike racing costs a minimum of £500 per round really and that doesn't include either the bike/van itself or any damage I may/will do to it...
