Raptor Lake Leaks + Intel 4 developments

Maybe AMD should buy Intel and TSMC.

not possible, amd won't be able to raise the cash needed due to their low revenue and tsmc is impossible to buy unless you have an invasion force. Intel could have easily bought amd 5 years ago but amd has never being in a position to buy Intel

Thought I'd start a thread to focus on Raptor Lake leaks and rumours.

Starting this off with Today's news from Videocards:

https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-r...egulator-dlvr-could-reduce-cpu-power-up-to-25

Intel Raptor Lake’s Digital Linear Voltage Regulator (DLVR) could reduce CPU power up to 25%

Alder Lake already holds the gaming performance crown, while also using less power than Ryzen while gaming. Though as we turn to productivity benchmarks/full load multi-thread workloads, Ryzen is much more efficient, so this would be good news for Intel if true.

Then again if Raptor Lake ends up competing against Zen4 on AM5, I assume AMD will also improve power efficiency, so 25% (if accurate) may not be enough.

Long as it stays LGA1700, I'll jump onboard with a CPU upgrade next year if the performance gains show to be worthwhile :p

Hopefully it'll include a DDR4 controller on chip, to enable those who bought DDR4 socket 1700 motherboards to join in on the fun.

Rumours has it that it does in need have a DDR4 controller BUT unfortunately rumour also states performances gains will be less than 10%, this probably is not surprising as architecture seems to be maxed out already

How does increasing your core count by 50% provide only 10% uplift. Sounds like BS
