Thanks Evilpaul!

The image turns my 32GB SD card into a 128MB device when you write the image to it. Is there any way to either increase the image size so it uses all the SD card, or create a separate partition on it?

Or am I then into the realms of compiling the image myself?

I had this problem. Download the Gparted Live CD from here http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php. Boot up Gparted with your USB inserted and then you can resize the partitions using that. Guide here: -

What arrived today, on my day off work!

I got a Sandisk 16 or 32GB Ultra Extreme something SD card somewhere in my DSLR. a HDMI cable, Samsung micro USB charger from my S3 and other spare things lying around to get started.

I also got mine today, only have an old veho sd card to test with, was in the problem list but seems to work fine, in fact i was surprised just how quick it booted up, was a lot faster than i've seen in videos, perhaps thats because it's the new release, seems to use a lot of cpu just moving the mouse around and things are pretty slow but plays hd vids back fine using omxplayer (needs a gui!), ill have to try xmbc at some point.

I just got a text from my wife saying my blueberry muffin has arrived....I think she means my Pi has arrived at last!

Does anyone have a wifi dongle working, if so what have you got? I'm hoping to turn mine into a relativly portable xbmc device.

So I've got it all connected and I got a few questions:

1) Is there no other way to power it up other than unplugging the micro USB power and then plugging it back in? Or is it designed to always be on and never switched off? I read it doesn't use much power so it's ok to be left on all the time
2) Do I have to type shutdown -h now everytime at the prompt after I've logged off in order to shut it down? But if 1) is fine, I can just leave it at this screen
3) I've got it connected via HDMI to a 22" LCD TV monitor and it's stuck at 1650x1050. Is that the maximum resolution?

I spent days trying to find info on a working easy to setup WiFi dongle...

Gave up and ordered a WiFi Ethernet bridge instead. Id be interested to hear if you get a dongle working though, far less messy.

Which bridge are you using mate? Would like to get my Pi wireless within Raspbmc, and if you have one working, i may as well go the same way!

I just made a really simple case using a bit of transparent green plastic from an xbox demo dvd case, i cut it to size so i could fold it twice and cover both sides, i then made holes for the audio and tv out using a penknife, add a bit of tape on the open side and job done, its secure and actually looks reasonable good.

Hmmm, mused to have one of those, but since moving to BT Infinity, I've been stuck using the BT Homehub not sure if you can use any router with infinity or a set amount of them? Will have to look into that, too.....

I just ordered a cheap WiFi bridge from Amazon. It shouldn't matter what you use though, as the Pi just picks it up as a LAN connection and the bridge handles the WiFi.

Not arrived yet though, although my Pi did turn up this morning :D

Edit: Just plugged the Pi in. 20 seconds and XBMC filled my HTDV in glorious 1080p. Now to get an Ubuntu VBox up and running so I can stick some media on the SD card and test it out. I don't have a network connection for the Pi until my wifi bridge turns up.

To anyone who uses their Pi solely as a Media PC, do you use Raspbmc or OpenELEC?

Also, what's a decent case? The Pi Crusts look quite cool :)
