Noticed this with mine, makes it tough to remove from the Flirc case

Apparently failure of the spring in the sd card mechanism was the most common failure in the 2B, so they got rid of it. Some people don't seem too happy with that though.

In case anyone else has the problem I had earlier where your Pi3 can't see your router, check your router isn't on channels 12 or 13. Apparently there's a bug in the wifi driver which prevents the Pi from seeing those channels.

Many wifi devices don't like 12 and 13.

Not something I knew before, I just updated a few settings on my router and it totally disappeared from my Pi. Apparently the beta channel of Raspbian fixes that, so hopefully that'll go release soon enough.

Ordered a media kit from the hut yesterday after 4pm and had an email about 8:30 this morning saying its shipped. This is despite their website saying out of stock or backorder for basically everything, so we'll see when it arrives. :p

I ordered some stuff from their site Monday and it's still not shipped, at the same time i ordered a Pi3 from their Amazon store and that shipped yesterday morning.

My media kit arrived today. So that's less than 48 hours from order to my door with standard shipping from their own website. Maybe it's because I bought a kit :p

My Pi kit i ordered from The Pi Hut's Amazon store showed up today, the order i placed on their website at the same time still still hasn't been dispatched.

Unfortunately the Pi kits that arrived is unusable at the moment as it came with a Samsung SD card and they seem to be posting some duff ones.

Emailed The Pi Hut yesterday to cancel the order i placed Monday as it had still not been posted, got a reply from the owner of the company in which he said he would do it when he gets in the office this morning, wake up this morning to an email saying the order had been posted, that company is ridiculous.

I ordered a charger on Monday and it's only been dispatched today. They are obviously experiencing high order volumes.

Where is the best place to buy this online?

I was going to buy it off RSonline but it just directs me to another seller when I say its for personal use.

Also, would you recommed buying it with a NOOBS sd card or can I just make flash my own. What is NOOBS anyway?

Cheers.

Right - go easy on me please.

I know nothing about anything that doesn't run on Windows/Andriod.

I fancy getting a Pi3 for myself and also my son. He's 8 and is interested in starting some basic coding etc.

I presume it's fairly idiot proof to hook it up to a TV (hdmi), use the software that comes with a "starter pack" and go from there? (i know he'd need a keyboard/mouse etc) - he has ethernet in his room already for xbox360.

Best place to order a full "starter" package from?

Do you have an RS account? It wouldn't let me buy it either until I logged in.

As for the NOOBs card, unless you need the Micro SD card there's not much point as you can download everything on it anyway.

Is rsonline not vat free for business customers as they are a few quid cheaper than most places?

I don't want to get busted by HMRC if I buy one :)

Nah you will be fine to sign up for an account (unless RS specifically state business use only at sign up) as you will still be charged vat when you order from them.
