How does people break in their nitros on here o been looking at replacing 1 of my buggy engines it runs good but nowhere near enough powerful enough for racing

Seen a few different methods on YouTube but wondering which is the best way people have found still new to this hobby all my gear is 2nd hand

One the most important things to use when breaking in a nitro engine is to use an Engine Heater to heat it up before starting..

Go electric conversion (if poss). Way more power and instant torque than any RC nitro/petrol engine.

And a darn sight easier to run. None of that warming up crap! Switch on and play.

I used to have some tamya stuff and a 1/8 IC car back in the 80s. Ive got back into rc with racing drones now.

I would like to buy a car that I can have fun with my 5yr old but also use myself. I would rather just get one car so looking for something quick enough for me to have fun but can slow down allot for him to learn on. I can't find anything that has throttle rates apart from the traxxas 50% mode which is still too fast?

Forgot to say he likes monster trucks (well like the blaze TV show!) and most use will be on grass so I guess that suits?

Any suggestions? My only thought so far is to buy a 1/10 monster truck and solder in a potentiometer to the transmitter so I can limit speed?

I've got an old RC car that's been sat doing bugger all for years that i want to sell. I've not got any pics but i'd imagine its from around the late 90's as the shells i have are an Audi A4 and a Vectra!

Not sure if it makes a difference but it has the big ass style remote control with the up/down and left/right controls rather than a wheel.

Is it likely to be worth anything or is it just tip fodder?

Depends what it is, battery powered I take it?

Most likely an old tamiya TL chassis or kyosho competitor

I am a massive vauxhall nut so the idea of a vectra shell is hugely intriguing :)

If you do decide get shot of it I would be interested :)

Yeah battery powered. Pretty sure i bought a new battery days before it being dumped in a cupboard!

The shell is pretty battered from memory but i'll try and get some pics/details tonight.

Yeah cool, condition not too much of an issue as bro and I rebuild and race them as hobby together to pretend we are still young and dont have mortgages and kids lolol

Cheers

Oooh while I think.about it,

Any one in here used one of the SJ4000 gopro clone cameras for recording RC car onboard footage. They are £20 on amazon which seems a sensible investment if any good to strap to a car bouncing around without fear of wrecking £200 odd quid of camera

Guys what do you think about

Carisma M48S Porsche 959

Being a complete noob is this a good car and decent model?

Look at what aftermarket upgrades are available as it'll be well worth doing. My HPI has been fully modded and will easily do 40mph on a full charge with a 3 cell battery. As things start to break, just grab the uprated version and you won't be disappointed.

Seem to be becoming more of a known name, not sure on spare parts but maybe give boys at modelsport ra ring as they seem to stock the brand and confirm availability etc but they look to be good robust starter carss

I've found it a good bit cheaper elsewhere.. Mrs will kill me like..but...

Nicely done....you can tell her you shopped around and saved money to be good lol

Worth checking spares with modelsport regardless, normally have good stocks. If not ballraced as standard that's a good basic upgrade to do at first build as makes nice difference to how car carries speed and saves bit of battery

Not sure spec;

Underneath the bodyshell, a new M48S shaft driven 4wd platform is used that features front, rear and centre metal-geared differentials to handle the powerful brushless power system.
That power, via a sealed transmission is courtesy of a 540-sized 3000kv motor and water resistant speed control, which just needs to be combined with your choice of LiPo or NiMH power source. A water resistant steering servo and receiver box provide the protection for some all weather rallying!

A heavy-duty aluminium main chassis provides the base for the double wishbone, oil shock damped suspension finished off at either end with front foam bumper for protection and rear scale lower diffuser.
If you are a fan of scale, retro, rally and Porsche you are going to love the M48S Porsche 959 Ready Set from Carisma.

Carisma M48S Features:

  • Ready Set – Factory Assembled just add Lipo battery
  • 2.4ghz Radio system
