RC cars

Hi, just joined, trying to find info on rc cars, FTX in particular, cant find any threads ? Prob me.....lol

Most of those FTX cars are junk.

They appeal because they are sold with batteries are chargers, so like "a starter kit" and technically they are quite good performance for the price, but they don't last and once you start replacing parts you'll just go into a cycle or forever fixing it more than driving it, and it gets demoralising real fast.

Just about to order an MT-10 V2 kit. First RC in a while and most of my previous were nitro but really cannot be bothered with all that now. Looking forward to getting back into it again after a long break.

There's a decent track in Telford if your location is accurate - not sure if you can run an MT10 there but could be worth checking out before you hit the order button

I made a new chassis for the Clodbuster, this is a replacement for the stock plastic tub but still retains the original suspension.

Any recommendations for a link to seeing about getting a new RC car? Twins are a bit older and would consider looking to get them a "proper" car. Not sure where to start to look for one from a decent site website that isn't a "toy"

L and L Models

Send them a message via the site or Bookface, Lee will take the time to discuss what you're after.

I've decided a Nitro car is not for me again - looks like the newer electric RC cars are a lot of fun too and just as capable - without the noise, sadly (Or not)

Thinking of getting into RC cars again once I've moved. As a sort of starter RC car; what do you guys recommend?

Budget wise - probably around the 800 mark?

What would you be doing with it?

Yes electric is better in every way. Except it’s not a combustion engine :-) no sound, no fun tuning needles, no satisfaction from that aspect of the car.

Some sort of Monstertruck/Buggy/Truggy that can deal with bashing is definitely the way to go imo. Lots of other stuff can be a bit niche in where you can really use it. ie a road car needs some nice smooth tarmac, a crawler needs some interesting terrain to be fun.
Even if you aren't planning on bashing in a skatepark, a MT/Buggy/Truggy is going to able to blast across grass, gravel, a mix of terrain and still be fun even on tarmac. With a budget of £800 you are kinda spoiled for choice, I'd probably lean towards not spending all of it on a car, and target around half that for a ready to run. Leaving the rest to go towards batteries, chargers, accessories and a spare parts fund.

Take a look at the Team Associated MT10 and the Arrma Granite (brushless BLX versions) for a start. Both are pretty quick, decent to drive and sturdy with good part availability.

MT-10 gets highly rated by pretty much everyone. Definitely get decent 3 cell LiPos to get the best from it. For bang for buck it’s really hard to beat. Modelsport do a 3 cell bundle for £417 which includes everything you need to get going.
