RC cars

Thanks will have a look. Trigger controllers are definitely not easier for kids. Give one to mine and they struggle, give them stick type and away they go. Who on earth would make a controller with a little steering wheel where forward goes right and backward goes left!
Why didnt they put the wheel on the back, would make more sense.

My lad used the trigger controllers from the age of 4 and to be honest found it easy to hold. No way he could have reached stick controls on a full size controller. It does not take them long to work out the orientation of the wheel, they pick it up in no time. Most RC cars are wheel type controllers so may as well start off with what is most used.

Great pictures, although I've never understood the attraction of the rock crawler type stuff.

Thanks it not a rock crawler mate its a scale truck.

Great fun, this can go anywhere! Fully submerged, any conditions, nothing stops it. Its really good fun and you'll be amazed on what stuff you can drive through, over and climb. The battery lasts 3hrs on one charge.

You'll find all rtr stuff comes with a gun controller. UK is almost unique in that we typically prefer stick.

If you do buy something that can be taken apart/repaired, make sure you can get spares easily.

This really, also one of the reasons why Tamiya kits are on balance a great option due to spares availability.

Alright chaps first poat in here,
Got a HPI firestorm 10t 3.0 quite a few years ago and we have had it running every so often, got it tuned etc but it seemed something would always F up on it and it wouldnt start...
I miss my old toy and want to know where to start in getting it back up and running anyone a bit of a pro that could drop me some tips?

Well I ignored what the kids wanted and got myself a Himoto Desert X10 refurbed buggy from the blue shirts. Quite a decent price too. Just looking at what you can update and I`m thinking of getting new shocks for it. I've seen some on the bay. Just wondering if anyone can give me any tips or is it just a case of removing the old ones and fitting these ? Any adjustments need to be made ?

We're all really happy for you!

Think I am going to get a on-road car, looking at the HPI RS4 Sport 3 Flux. Looks like a nice quick car with loads of options.

aw man - that looks awesome! - love the level of detail and add-ons for it.
Anything similar in a 4x4 large wheel design I can ragg around the backyard please? (non-tarmac - mixture of flag stones, cobbling, concrete and grass!)

I have a HPI Firestorm 10t flux, which is awesome, easy to get spares and upgrades. It's 2wd but really good.

How big is your backyard, these things are quick so need a lot of space to max it :)

10m x 30m and then some - loads of different types of ground as its a bit of a mish mash including cobbles! I don't think the Firestorm will fair well on cobbled ground - hence the requirement for a monster truck type setup?

I'm not really bothered about speed tbh - more just being able to use it for stunts etc. - need somat robust that I can swap parts on as and when they break (two ferral children will guarantee it will break lol)

EDIT:

Seems robust enough for me!! - Also double checked - it is mostly waterproof
