RC cars

Is it a bad idea to go down the Arrma route? Is parts availability really that awful?

I can’t stop watching videos of the Mojave 4S. I don’t own any RC cars yet, and this one seems to be really, really good out of the box which makes it appealing to get into the hobby with.

Nope. No mistake there.

Good radio, engine and car. Not used SRT servos, but heard good things. I only use Xpert or KingMax in my race vehicles.

Tyres will be dependant on where you race. Where’s your local track?
It’s been a long time since I raced one so will be good to get back into it again.

My local tracks would be

Herts
Clanfield
Slough
Kent (when they sort it out)

I had normally used ko propo or hitec servos myself but thought I’d give these a go they seem to be well represented.

I think the last real big event I did was Neo at harper Adam’s and then the dirt masters at clanfield but as mentioned years and and years ago

I recently converted my KO Espirit 2 to 2.4ghz as took my touring car to a track and felt a little out of place, I was also paranoid of bending it every time I used it.

I couldn’t find a new stick radio that wasn’t mental money for the same functionality. So I went at it. Was pretty easy.

Now I have all 10 of my RC cars on it and am happy as Larry!

Good work that.

Those KO radios were fantastic still better than some offerings today IMO

I've recently switched from KO to SRT as UK availability is quite poor, Schumacher are the distributors but only do a few orders a year unfortunately. The SRT have been faultless and the performance is great, priced well too for the specs.

Do you have a link to the conversion kit you used? I have a couple of Esprit 2 and would be nice to resurrect them.

Edit: Sanwa have a new Gemini and Exzes on the way in the next few months. Only decent stick radio that's reasonable price wise is the Futaba 4GRS at the moment

Here is the 2.4 kit.

And here is the receiver.

There’s only 3 wires iirc that need to be connected. I can’t find the pictures I took annoyingly.

yea you should have spent a few grand on one of the big boys that takes petrol.
My problem is where to use it sadly.

We have an X Maxx and an Outcast 8s and those are easy to use most places without to much bother.

People seem to get irked when an engine is running sadly. I have had a raminator in my cart for weeks now :D

Looks similar-ish to the Bear Hawk I got for my 13th birthday.

Anyway on another matter, no idea what RC car/van this is but this guy has made a very funny Instagram account with little RC clips and a character:

Yeah I follow that account, it's quite amusing.
The van body he made himself. I think that's 2nd or 3rd version after crashes. Not sure what the chassis is from underneath.

One of the main reasons I am considering an electric RC so that noise pollution isn't a factor.

Nice setup though! Must be a blast!

Hey,

My friend got an Arrma Gorgon recently and let my 5 year old son drive it on the weekend. He controlled it extremely well (at 50% throttle) so we're thinking of getting him an RC car for Christmas.

I'm considering the Rlaarlo Omni-Terminator but the battery compartment is very short which makes it difficult to get additional batteries for it easily. The other option is the Team Associated Rival MT10 because it's regarded as extremely durable which is a big bonus for a small kid.

My question is, does anyone know how much you can limit the throttle on the MT10's transmitter? The slower I can make the car, the better.

You can turn the throttle dual rate right down on MT-10 it has a rotary knob on the stock XP120 controller for this. It’s a great beginner R/C…..
