RC Planes

I just ended up putting a Velcro section for the battery which means I can move it forward or backwards depending on how it is set up or how I want it to fly.
I can't imagine it will give you any issues just to close it up. You can always adds weight later if you need to.

Yup will look later :p

Do you think that the last quarter of the wing will be effected much (airflow) by a servo wire lying flat taped to the wing with crossweave will effect anything? its only the last 1/4 of the wingtip, where the wire/carbon tube channel ends to near the wing tip.

Will order the battery later

Higher C is ok, it's just the maximum discharge rate of the pack. Being higher is not usually a problem, provided your motor/prop combo does not draw more current than the max rating.

In relation to the wire on the wing, can you not just cut a small slit with a blade, and slide the cable into the foam? That's how I would do it, and just cover with tape if preferred. It would stop any real problems with airflow. It would probably be fine as it is, but it would look messy and might cause some unusual stall characteristics if the flow over the two sides is un-even? Im speculating, and its unlikely to cause a major problems, but its easy enough to hide away properly, so I would just do as it would only take a few minutes and would be out of the ay forever.

Weight differences between the two are

25C = 227grams
30C = 255 grams

so a difference of about 28grams

Yeh good idea, slit and then just turn the wire sideways and put it in, cover with crossweave.

Yeh, will probably go for the 30C then

Have you heard of Gens ace?

someone sent me a link to a shop closing and they are selling them for around £7, here is what he said about them , reviews online I must admit seem to be favourable

Gens ace are a german battery company , basically there above average as far as lipos go and there ratings are genuine . Their usually double this price .

In a Bixler the gens ace will be ideal ,it will deliver 50 amps constant , and I doubt you will need much more than 30 amps at full throttle

ps actual weight of gens ace 25c 2200mah is 184g acording to their website

Iv just bought 2 for £18 which included postage, usually these are around £15-£17 each

:)

Going to buy some 3mm carbon rod later for the elevator and rudder stiffening

Then tonight crack on with a few more tasks

Have a few Gens Ace batteries myself. Giant Shark seem to sell them and like you say reviews are good.

Which shop is this selling them off cheap? Could do with some more for my Heli / Tri.

Giantshark are selling them for around £7 each, postage £2ish

Wondering if I could get away with using these on my 250 quadcopter too, atm I use 3S 1300mah 45-90C on them, which are around 161gms, so these are not much more.

Can be used with the bixler2 and if they work on the quad then that aswel.

Im sure it will be with you soon

Update to the wings, put back in the foam strips to hide wires, didnt glue it down but instead used crossweave tape only.

LED wire has been hidden inside a slit, the LEDs are not stuck down yet though

Fuselage was stuck together beginning of the week, all the wiring for now ready

Tonights tasks

Custom sunken fit carbon rod on elevator underside. Crossweave tape on it whilst it dries, once it dries crossweave tape will be removed, and a fresh tape will be reapplied and smoothed.

Custom Rudder rods, one on either side, sunken in, again once dried I will re-tape over it.

Elevator and rudder glued in to place in the fuselage.

Awaiting for that to dry, will hook up the last two control rods tomorrow.

Hoping my batteries arrive tomorrow, need to find the COG point and try and find where im going to velcro my battery inside.

Tape down the LED PCB's properly

Put some more crossweave tape across the belly, leading edges, anywhere else I see relevant

Fit the motor shaft prop holder thing, balance the prop and fit

Find a way to hold the wings in place and secure them, was thinking magnets and velcro

See if there is anything iv missed

Start with radio settings, throw calibration, dual rates etc and any other radio stuff

Looking good !!

Why oh why did I choose Parcel Force for delivering my HK stuff... missed delivery yesterday so they were supposed to deliver today... nothing. no-one is in again tomorow (Mrs was in today)... ffs.

Just some MG servos and some HXT900's. And a Guppy Mini Slope Glider.

I've been meaning to build one from plans for ages but then saw it on HK in balsa and laser cut!

I was going to order it from the International warehouse along with another balsa/laser 3D plane kit but HK's delivery prices have soared since I last ordered!!
