Was that the x1.5/1.5/1.7 slide? Noticed the post above. End of the day, it'll be a big improvement on the 6950XT(which was great to be honest) at a decent price.
yeah, it's the ones above. for $999 its some solid performance.

I'm sure raster will be much better too.

edit: also happy with the 355W TPD

Yeah, when I had a 6950XT I was really impressed with its raster performance. I've got my 4090 now so I'm not in the market but nice to see them launching at a great price point. Interesting to see how long until mid range is announced.

I'm getting a sneaky feeling we may see a dual gpu card....from them as they have the power headroom to do it. or a chip with 2x the shader parts instead of the one now.
I immediately thought of this when they started talking about the chiplet design and how the gpu is completely separate to the memory.

The increase in gaming performance a lot lower than the theoretical compute increase. Makes you think there's a bottleneck in the design.

And the way they are doing chiplets, unless there's an unannounced way of seamlessly connecting compute chiplets it's a bit of a damp squib.

16MB infinity cache per 64bit memory channel - so less than the 6xxx series.

Just looking at the RT again, no mention of what FSR mode they are using?

If that is CP and DL 2 MAXED with FSR quality, that is decent enough uplift tbf.

Looking at previous benchmarks of 6950xt, these 6950xt numbers are for 4k with FSR quality mode. Looks like stock FE 4090 with same settings gets 90fps in cyberpunk and 100fps in dying light 2 so 4090 is 45% ahead of 7900xtx in cyberpunk and 38% in dying light 2.

How am I defending NVIDIA? I just dont think they're to blame if AMD rip us off. AMD are to blame if they rip us off NVIDIA are to blame if NVIDIA rip us off.

Its embarassing that you want to blame NVIDIA for AMD's potential actions.

NVIDIA are a terrible company. They rip us off, they over price, their pricing is shaemless, they lock features away, they dont use open standards. I'm not some silly little fanboy.

Howveer I'm also not about to blame AMD for NVIDIA's actions.

It happens all the time. People say Nvidia "rips us off" and then buy their cards in droves. Look how many here bought an RTX4090. Make excuses why they are "worth" X amount.

Then AMD releases competitive cards which are generally cheaper than what Nvidia has,and then moan AMD is overpriced, then might as well pay more for Nvidia. This has happened even 10 years ago when ATI was undercutting Nvidia in pricing with similar performance. You only had to look at the pricing of the HD6850/HD5850/HD5870 and how people still paid more for equivalent Nvidia cards.

Even look at this card - its $999 which is expensive, but compared to Nvidia charging more for its sub 400MM2 RTX3070 replacement,it looks "cheap" and after a decade of Nvidia doing this all the time people still don't get it. So now the top AMD card has zero price increase over the RX6900XT and even has far more transistors and VRAM than the RTX4070 16GB whilst being cheaper.

So AMD is now a ripoff? Well if $999 is too much then blame Nvidia for still trying to sell the RTX3090 for that sort of money. I would rather it cost $500,but when Nvidia is charging $1199 for an RTX4070,there is no downward price pressure at all.

The 4090 does seem well ahead. Confuses me as AMD said its the most powerful GPU in the world near end of presentation. Just lying?

Well, 4090 is about 16% faster at native resolution vs. 7900xtx with FSR. Kinda DOA for RT.
Most likely the situation will be the same down the stack, so once more if you want RT nVIDIA is the way to go.

Probably they'll "glue" some RT cores later down the generations to actually stay competitive.
