Wondering if something like a used RTX 3080 + FSR 3.0 (assuming open source again) will be the ultimate bang for the buck ray tracing card for the future :D

The 3080 just keeps on giving eh  :p :D

Shall be interesting to see what amds frame generation is like given nvidia supposedly were working on their one for 6 years. I'm expecting FSR 1/2 levels of quality......

I expect its FSR 2 based on the FSR 3 will massively boost frame rate be it with some latency increase.

Yeah defo not FSR 3, I meant in terms of which FSR 1/2 preset they are using? If performance mode, then that is very meh.....

Looking at previous benchmarks of 6950xt, these 6950xt numbers are for 4k with FSR quality mode. Looks like stock FE 4090 with same settings gets 90fps in cyberpunk and 100fps in dying light 2 so 4090 is 45% ahead of 7900xtx in cyberpunk and 38% in dying light 2.

Well, 4090 is about 16% faster at native resolution vs. 7900xtx with FSR. Kinda DOA for RT.

Most likely the situation will be the same down the stack, so once more if you want RT nVIDIA is the way to go.

Good spots!

Oh well, maybe next year!

As said though, look great cards if you don't care for RT and want bang per buck for raster.

It happens all the time. People say Nvidia "rips us off" and then buy their cards in droves. Look how many here bought an RTX4090. Make excuses why they are "worth" X amount.

Then AMD releases competitive cards which are generally cheaper than what Nvidia has,and then moan AMD is overpriced, then might as well pay more for Nvidia. This has happened even 10 years ago when ATI was undercutting Nvidia in pricing with similar performance. You only had to look at the pricing of the HD6850/HD5850/HD5870 and how people still paid more for equivalent Nvidia cards.

Even look at this card - its $999 which is expensive, but compared to Nvidia charging more for its sub 400MM2 RTX3070 replacement,it looks "cheap" and after a decade of Nvidia doing this all the time people still don't get it. So now the top AMD card has zero price increase over the RX6900XT and even has far more transistors and VRAM than the RTX4080 16GB whilst being cheaper.

So AMD is now a ripoff? Well if $999 is too much then blame Nvidia for still trying to sell the RTX3090 for that sort of money. I would rather it cost $500,but when Nvidia is charging $1199 for an RTX4070,there is no downward price pressure at all.

When did I say AMD are a rip off? You're extremely immature and manipulative. Read my posts back. You're just to shift the argument to an AMD vs NVIDIA tirade which I'm not interested in entertaining as I dislike both companies (but I'd say I dislike NVIDIA more).

However my points are:
1. NVIDIA are to blame for NVIDIA's actions.
2. AMD are to blame for AMD's actions.

I have posted on another thread praising AMD for their pricing scheme. I have no fanboy-ism unlike yourself. I critically analyse each company.

You tried to blame NVIDIA for AMD's pricing. Now AMD's pricing looks good, NVIDIA aren't to blame for it? Grow up.

Probably they'll "glue" some RT cores later down the generations to actually stay competitive.

That's a really poor slide AMD showed tbf it makes it look like more than 50% of Cyberpunks perfromance comes from FSR which means in 2022 AMDs top offering can't even hit Native 4k, that's where it sucks for me.

I think im still going to go with AMD as they are that much cheaper, but as a 4k User i'd like to be able to have at least Native 4k on high.

I’ll wait for reviews but so far it seems like typical AMD… close but no cigar.

I was actually hoping they’d smash the 4090 at much lower cost to force NVIDIA’s hand but just seems like they’ve come in at 80% of the performance for 50% of the price.

Priced lower then 4080 16gb

Think They said it’s the fastest under $1000.
Nice. Makes more sense. Missed that part.

So king of performance is sadly still the 4090 with its massive price tag. For 8K gaming and triple 4K monitor gaming, the 4090 is probably still the only real choice. For everyone else, I think an AMD card makes MUCH more sense.

Genuinely don't see whats to not like here, I know we didnt get any direct benchmark comparisons but the xtx at $999 seems like a steal compared to the 4xxx series so far. at those prices these cards are definitley compelling compared to the alternatives, those CP numbers its an extra $700 for an extra 10fps from nvidia .... no thanks.

this is perhaps the first time i am so confused that i cant make out whats what..
with so many permutations around presets and non-standard set of games.
nvidia atleast leaked the timespy score even if they didnt show it during presentation
