RDNA 3 rumours Q3/4 2022

I would find a compelling package would be a CPU+GPU+game bundle or combinations like that.

SAM seems to make a bit of difference overall too so maybe a way to claw some mindshare.

I noticed nvidia didn't even give a game(s) and the nvidia Geforce now 12 months access like they did with 3090s too this time , but upped the prices for UK worse than USA at £1700 to $1600 and before for 3090 it was $1500 USA and £1400 for UK, so really this should have been £1450-1500 max this time and a game bundle.

Yes I know the $ vs £ at moment but still, what happens when we get rid of this government and the £ back to 3090 times.. they will keep charging more than USA ? and yes I know we have VAT on the price but I'm comparing 3090 to 4090 prices. Really USA got a $100 bump we got £300 this time apples to apples.

Nvidia pushed RT as a means of justifying Turing's raster stagnation. -And because Turing couldn't deliver RT without wrecking performance, they introduced fake reslolution to rescue gamers from fake lighting.

Fake resolution brings its own "artifacts" and anomalies. -Just trading one problem for another.
Preach Twinz.

The 4090 has enough performance though that thankfully DLSS and FG is not needed, certainly not in any game I play.

I've tried FG out in Spiderman and whilst I could not notice too many visual issues in my initial testing, the latency is immediately noticeable. I'd rather run native and dial down a setting or two if needed than use it and so would anyone who is senstive to added latency.

I think his popularity comes from his intro, "ladies and gentleman, my names Paul...".

As with most things developers won't put too much effort (money) into RT until most gamers can benefit. Given the average GPU owner is still way off driving RT at decent FPS it will be some time before we see it really pushed. Until then I'll make do and let the wealthier enthusiasts finance it by buying the likes of the high end cards that can drive RT reasonably well.

Again, why do people keep ignoring metro ee? :D

Consoles run it very well and so do mid end gpus even without upscaling...

If you have a < 3070 level of card, chances are you'll be running 1440 or 1080P even.

I for one am thankful nvidia pushed it along with dlss as we would more than likely not have any RT advancement let alone any titles that we now have with it. "No sacrifice, no victory", given the way the market is going, I think nvidias decision will pay of in the long run as if history is anything to go by, amd will likely be playing catchup, inb4 "fine wine"....

Don't disagree that "fake resolution" can introduce issues, especially amds fsr but like I always say, it is a case of pick your poison... I value good temporal stability and a cleaner overall image, which dlss just so happens to do better with than native + TAA (inb4 "zomg that's because of TAA!!!!", show me games from within the last couple of years without TAA and where other aa methods don't introduce issues like awful flickering, shimmering, aliasing, jaggies ;)) And before someone mentions "ghosting", most games using TAA also having ghosting and in some cases, even worse ghosting than dlss.

Even in a lot of cases compared to better AA methods such as MSAA, SMAA, dlss still does far better for temporal stability.

One thing I miss from the 4850/7850/290/vega days, game bundles! Nvidia usually only give one or two games where amd give 3 and in some cases, 4 games. Sadly them days are long gone I think given all the cutbacks companies are making now

You mean to say you don't take these youtubers comments seriously without any actual evidence to back up their comments?! ;) :D :p

I don't think anyone is offended, it's just not the killer feature it's purported to be for many. I'm sure it will be the standard once you can max it out on the lower end cards.
Ah, so over a decade away then? :p

In the meantime it will get used to market GPUs and games -just hope we get less of the "let's make everything reflective so RT really show" and more of the natural look so you just think excellent lighting. Better not have the equivalent of cameramen get involved then (yes, dark shots are really hard to film well, but I for one do not like to watch movies where the screen is constantly 80%+ dark).

Next time you're outside at night in a lit up town with puddles, take a good look at them puddles or better yet google search "reflections" to see that a lot of the time, reflections can in fact be very reflective  :p

In terms of "darkness", with RT (when done right and from the ground up), it gives developers far better control over lighting and removes the limitations associated with raster/raster+RT, metro ee shows this well:

No offense but those pics on the left just makes me want to pump up gamma to actually be able to *see* the environment...

Those ones on the left is raster + RT version. Right is full RT.
Phew! Because like @Zarax, I too would turn the gamma way up for the left ones. As my comments about cameramen should have made obvious. I like realism but only to an extend. I do not fancy having to be in a totally dark room to see anything, nor being HDR blinded because someone though an explosion at 2000 NITs was a good idea!

I guess static images just dont do it justice.

Yup I always say this, RT in motion looks far better when you can see how the lighting and shadows are interacting with the environment and same with reflections, not having SSR just disappear because you slightly changed your camera angle

Fair enough. First time you've posted some examples that I haven't looked at and thought "is that it, that's what all the hype is about?"

Your lists of upcoming games with RT in are still uninteresting to me, though.

Well it's a good thing we don't all have the same interests in the same games

The game, not RT, unless you think 40 FPS average on a 4090 is fine. Nvidia cranked RT in that particular game up to 11 as a branding show-case.

I like RT, but as @Troezar said its just not viable for most of us yet, even if you do have a 4090 its still not viable in a couple of game because of Nvidia being as i said of it "ridiculous"

PS: all my GPU's from the past 6 years have been Nvidia. i'm just not wedded to them.

In any case, allow me to give a giant yawn about GPUs costing as much as a top tier PC costed 10 years ago.
Can we hope AMD will release something meaningful under $300 MSRP?
