Recommend me metal bands (short list included)

there are some very different tastes here that come under the same "Heavy metal" banner!

Nine inch Nails
Ministry
Pigface
Sepultura (inc Nailbomb)
Fudge Tunnel (Hate Songs in E Minor is amazingly heavy)
Marilyn Manson
Rob Zombie
Korn

I liked Iron Maiden when I was 13...aging rockers and don't really cut it any more (just my opinion)

Now Ozzy is aging with style! His stuff is still cool!

So you dislike Dance of Death, and think that Rock In Rio was a poor concert of theirs?

At the time Iron Maiden were Heavy and pioneering, now thier style is more accepted! Nothing new and no longer shocking!

Just listened to Day's of Betrayal by Dance of Death, sounds like Iron Maiden with a twist of Megadeth. Is this a typical song if thiers? Nothing that I haven't head before TBH.

Arrggggh screachy guitar...I hate that!

{anti flame}This is only my opinion, I respect other's tastes.{/anti flame}

:)

I just wondering if by "don't cut it anymore" you mean their live performances aren't good anymore?

No More Lies is an awesome song off Dance of Death.

Band's are a lot better live! but no, I have no experience of thier Live gigs so can't comment on that front. What I mean is the style. To me it's not heavy, it'd just a group of guys in spandex and perms singing in Choir voices! They are talented don't get me wrong! It's just not my style or taste! I would love to see Henry Rollin's in Spandex!!!...err that doesn't sound right!!!!...I'll re-phrase that! You wouldn't see Henry Rollin's in Spandex..:p

Just listened to "No More lies"...very IM esque!!! nothing wrong with that! just not my style. Good track I have to admit!!!

As i lay dying (These rock)

You know it, aparentley really good live aswell, they are the masters at breakdowns, every song has its little 30second crazy mosh part, its great.

Whats your favourite songs?

Confined, Losing Sight and Through Struggle are great.

Faith No More ? Dunno if they have been mentioned yet in the thread, if they have i missed them.

weescott, i'd class a lot of what you listed as Industiral/Gothic rather than straight metal although genre borders can be a bit hazy.

Maiden are great, I wouldnt say they were heavy today as the spectrum of music grows ever wider, but its still quality metal :) They completely rule live.

If you want to try some more melodic metal, you should should try listening to some power metal (I would reccommend it):

Dragonforce (the kings of powermetal)
Cellador (Very similar to DF)
Edguy (a lot like maiden imo)
Hammerfall
Juda's wake
Kill by inches (heavier powermetal)
Nightwish
Overlorde
Racer X
Thy Majestie
Bal Sagoth
Labyrinth
Legend Maker

Im working on constructing a list of powermetal so if anyones got any reccommendations to add, please stick 'em up here :D I never knew just how much powermetal there was out there until about 3 days ago. Good stuff.
