Red Dead Redemption 2

Z...O...M...G...

4090 installed, every possible setting turned up to max and DLSS enabled and I swear this is one of if not the best graphical experiences I have ever seen. To think this came out in 2018 is just insane as imo it beats the crap out of pretty much any 2022/2023 game in visuals. It is phenomenally beautiful and water and the environments look so realistic.
Man I wish I hadn't read that...

I have a 3090 and 60fps at fairly high settings looks majestic, but that 4k 120hz oled goodness is tempting me into buying a 4090...

Oofffff

hey guys, currently downloading RDR2 again, going to give it ago (completed a few times before) again..

This time I would like to tweak and test my system, so looking for FPS counter to see where im at..

As it does not run through steam, I cant get an FPS overlay, what is the best method to get this?

doesn't it have a built-in bench tester? pretty sure i remember that being a thing

ahh yeah, good shout!

As above it does have a benchmark built in or you can install RTSS. Both Nvidia and AMD also have their own overlays. Default is Alt-R I for nvidia and maybe Ctrl-Shift-O for AMD.

awesome, I think I will run the benchmark, and can always use the NVIDIA overlay if need be, Atl-R ! Cheers!

Just started playing this man it’s pretty. Got to be one of the best looking games I’ve ever played.
I am now around 25% through the game and holy frigamoly, running an RTX 4090 with everything completely maxed on a 4k OLED it is probably overall the best looking games I have ever seen. It's insane that Rockstar managed to release a game like this in 2018 and over 4 years later it is still one of the best looking and most detailed games in existence. The character models are the only thing that do not look close to photorealistic... almost everything else, especially the scenery, could easily be mistaken by many people for a real photo. You can see so far into the distance too and combined with the volumetric light/smoke/mist and water effects it is jaw-dropping.

If there was ever a reason to buy a high end GPU that costs silly money, it is to play games like this and CP2077 fully maxed out. It is a phenomenal achievement, a masterpiece of a game that oozes atmosphere from every pore and is clearly a labour of development love. I'm going to play through the main story, deviate a bit and not spend silly amounts of time being a completionist. It will still take me a while and be worth every minute. :)

Get the 4k character overhaul mods from Nexusmods. Makes them look much better.

I’m about 20% through as well so it’s going to keep me busy for a while!

It really is outstanding, I completed it too recently to be worth playing through the story again, but definitely miss just riding through the world and enjoying the scenery. I have 160 hours logged on Steam, and of that, less than 10 is in the multiplayer. I'd love to have a remake of the original and undead nightmare in the same engine... Half the map is already there :D

Game is a buggy mess, once I went into a saloon and there was a cutscene and then a fist fight broke out, I was punching and all of a sudden my gun came out and I shot some peeps and then a lot of people where just fighting thin air

Now I am stuck on act 2 with no missions at all on the map and no way of progressing. Given up now game is poor

But they won’t because they are trying to milk the online as much as GTA, and ”if people are playing the single player, they are not buying cosmetic tat online”

Whut.

Going to play this when my analogue keyboard arrives. Don't like having to swap between controller and keyboard just to make the horse feel like it's not a game from 1980 with 4 directional movement.

Just got this after upgrading my PC, just wondering what the best control method is? For GTA I used mouse and keyboard when on foot, then switched to Xbox controller when in a vehicle. Is it similar for this, with horse being the vehicle??

it is probably overall the best looking games I have ever seen.
It’s not just the graphics though. I have a middling spec PC (upgraded in 2020 for Covid lockdowns) and the main “wow” is the general atmosphere from the sound. Stick headphones on, ride through the forest during a thunderstorm.. Man it’s so good.

I seem to recall there being a setting for looking around on the horse which massively helped (take it off default) IE so the mouse doesn’t control the direction of your horse. You can look around freely with the mouse and control the horse with keyboard only. Much easier.

True, the sound is amazing and so atmospheric. The level of detail in this game in every damn area is just astounding. Yesterday I noticed the muscles rippling on the horses when the run. It's just jaw-dropping sometimes.

I've had this on Xbox since launch but stopped playing as I was waiting for a 60fps unlock but never happened. So after reading comments on here it inspired me to fork out for pc version on CD keys for £12.99 thing is I have a 4090 and LG CX oled so had to be done.
