Red Dead Redemption 2

How is this game running for you guys? Not played it myself but reading a lot of horror stories online about crashes and performance. :/

Not sure about people with 4k cards, my 1070ti is a 1080p card. I can get 55-60 fps with med to high following jokers video. I do have a 4k tv but running at 1440p is not an option as 1080p upscales better. 4k with my card with everything on low is about 25fps lol.

Not had a single crash either, worked since launch day.

For anyone struggling with performance I really recommend using Res Scaling in game to something like 0.8 and enabling NVIDIA Sharpening to say 0.5 in NVCP. Works really well for anyone running on 1440p that doesn't have a monster card like me. Be warned Sharpening only works on DX12 though.

Well, I'm running it at 1440p on a 1070 which won't cut mustard anymore but the game somehow feels smoother between framerates, I usually get 38-50 with some 60 at certain points.

No crashes though.

If I form a persistent posse does everyone auto join it when they come in or do fresh invites need sending out every time?

trying to figure out if there’s any reason to pay $200 when it will only ever be two of us in the posse,

Just trying this mate, didn't even think about that, 0.750 was a bit too blurry.

EDIT: It does indeed look pretty great but I only get like 3-4 fps frim this, generally my game doesn't seem to care if I'm using medium or high shadows/SSAO/lighting/global illumination, framerate is pretty similar:confused:

Seems frame times rather than pure frame rates can be a problem in this game. GN showed the 9700K having frame times of nearly 100ms at times. Stutter city!

My 3900 seems to be averaging around 11-12ms.

So started today, made a character, got broken out from prison, met a woman in the desert and then went riding off for first Misson. Had to quit to do something. Logged back in an hour later and now I'm on some snow mission and can't get back to the desert stuff and not playing the character I created, so confused.

Sounds like you started single player? The prison part is online.

Can't get over how good this looks on PC, night-time is like twice as good, detailed, the Milky Way in the sky and even the moon look brighter and so impressive.

Everything is really sharp and I'm having just as much fun playing the game again, even seeing places I'd missed after around 100h on console:p

Maybe upgrading to a 2070S is not a bad idea after all:p I'll be flogging my PS4 Pro after Death Stranding and TLoU 2 anyways, or maybe I'll play the latter on the PS5:D

My missus and I have a persistent posse, what happens is that you automatically are put into the posse but not into the same group within the posse, if that makes sense, if you are familiar with MMOs, think of it as being in the same server and guild automatically but not in the same party. Bit like how you can be in an MMO guild of 200 players but only in the same party as half a dozen of them. So you still have to send out an invite, but only one invite instead of 2 invites like in a temporary posse (1 to join the session and a 2nd to join the posse)

I'm loving it, I didnt encounter any of the launcher issues that some people did and its performing very well on my system, better than I thought it would in fact.

As for the game itself, brilliant..thoroughly enjoying it. The missus and I have been running about in Red Dead Online, upgraded our camp to a large camp, formed a persistent posse, have done some supply and trade runs, gone on treasure hunts and have spent a lot of time just walking about and hunting for plants and skins and meat. I've also played a few hours of the saloon poker on quieter moments ingame. So far my played says that I have played for 38 hours and I havent even touched single player yet ! Easily , REALLY easily going to meet my £ per hour value rating for the price.
