*** Resident Evil 2 Remake ***

Not going to look at those Spoiler tags Bishie but you have always been able to speedrun through Resident Evil games. In fact you can pretty only get S rank by completing in under a certain time in both games. That's not how I will be enjoying the game Friday. Each to their own. Feels disingenuous to say they have hugely cut the game I reken :S

You're in no position to be calling me disingenuous, especially if you've not read my previous post. I've been perusing the spoiler thread on ResetEra since the game was leaked, and many who have acquired the game early can attest to it's short length, even on their initial playthrough. They've also confirmed that certain content has been cut from the remake, including areas, enemies, lore etc.
This isn't the end of the world for some people, but to established fans of the franchise, it's a bit of a blow!

Edit: Someone's first-time stats for each campaign:

It's definitely a short game, even for those who aren't doing a speedrun. That's four playthroughs by just one player!

If the game is getting glowing reviews and has decent length, so what if a bit of the content from the original is cut? It's a remake, not a remaster that has to follow the exact same path. The old games were also ridiculously short if you decided to blast through them, I remember being able to get through both RE2 and RE3 in a matter of hours back in the day!

I think games like this simply have to hit a sweet spot of time played before the atmosphere and scares from the enemies lose their effectiveness, they can really overstay their welcome if too long. The Dead Space games spring to mind for this, they were brilliant until you got about 3/4 the way through, then they ran out of steam and felt like a slog to finish after they'd run out of ideas and scares.

It also boils down to how you want to play the game, this for me will be a headphones only, hour or two at night kind of game that I will savour with zero spoilers. I'm sure I'll get my money's worth over the course of a few nights.

I think there is a a+b scenario for each character then hulk and tofo aswell mate.
Thats awesome if true i thought they had cut them, as for the guy saying stuff has been cut out what about the additional areas and content? you can't expect it to be the exact same. It's short because people are intentionally firing through it.

As a hardcore resident evil fan myself, this is the most hyped I've been for any game and been waiting patiently for years will be takig my time devouring every detail and then playing through as fast as i can.

Also you can't really compare against the old game time wise as the door animations between rooms take up a LOT of time.

BTW, does anyone know when Pre-order keys will be sent out, specifically from Voidu? Anyone got theirs yet? Hoping to borrow my brothers PC to play it as I still haven't got a PC sorted as I can't decide on what to go for.
no idea mate still waiting on mine from green man gaming.

A lot of fans were expecting a faithful recreation of the original, in a similar vein to the remaster of the first game in the series. That doesn't mean to say the game is a flop, it's clearly doing very well on Metacritic etc. I won't allow the drawbacks to sully the experience, but I can understand why some people are disappointed!

Had a quick go on the demo, and enjoyed it. RE7 was the first game in the series that I played (and completed) and this felt similar so am looking forward to the full game.

One issue however is that I couldn't do the full 30mins...by 20mins in I was sweating and feeling nauseous. Not felt like that since trying VR for the first time.

Didn't touch the settings, wasn't even sure what it was set to but whatever it defaulted to ran kinda poorly on my 1070 and 3570k. Did look sublime though so maybe it defaulted beyond what my rig can handle. Happens in a lot of games.

What kind of FPS did you get? I left it on the recommended settings for graphics (1440p with 1070ti) and it ran at about 80-90fps. That's with a ryzen 1600 @ 3.8Ghz.

How have you not played the previous titles?! you have missed out.

On another note, RE2 original world record speedrun is 48 minutes.

Anyway, even if there is stuff missing, I don't care, I'm gonna love it.

Yeh seemingly they are called 2nd run now but basically b scenario. Also tofo and hulk.
A you tube review also said there were others he couldnt talk about yet because of embargo but I'm not sure if that was referring to hulk and tofo or possibly even more.

There is going to be DLC in three parts called ghost survivor featuring 3 characters from the game ---- shameless copy/paste

The Ghost Survivors will be a side story that focuses on three survivors

The Ghost Survivors will include randomized scenarios, an enemy unique to the game mode, and a shop where players can purchase items with points they earn in-game. We’ve reached out to Capcom for more details.
and its free apparently, names removed to avoid spoilers

Shame that this is quite a bit different than the original. A small part of me was hoping they would make dlc that would use the same map layout and controls as the original essentially recreating the original in today’s graphics. I would have no issues paying even £20 for such dlc for nostalgia sake. But not going to happen as it would likely be too much work. Maybe a nostalgia inventory management ui dlc is not much to ask?

Oh well, this looks like it has been received well apart from a few who miss the point and sighted item management as a negative... It will very likely sell well, so hopefully Resident Evil 3 remake is next :D

The fact that they've done such high quality (imo) work on this bodes well for future games in the franchise, If the Demo's anything to go on the game's going to look good & run well which will hopefully mean it should sell well in their eyes which I hope persuades them to do more re-releases or at least make the next release more of a back to it's roots Resident Evil game rather than another RE7 type game.

Agreed. Hopefully they go straight to Resident Evil 3 Remake, then a Resident Evil 8 which like RE2 goes back to it's roots, followed by a RE:CV remake :D
