Retiring at 33 to play MMOPRGs, am I mad?

I really don't understand MMORPG's , i played WoW but it takes no skill, i mean you give an idiot the game and he can get to lvl 60 and be in a good guild etc etc. First person shooters take so much more skill. And quitting ** job to play is insane, iv been gaming 4 years and im sick of it now, gaining a better social life and it generally makes u feel better.

tbh the guy ovbiously is bored having to work a lot, he has a few ovbious options -
1. cut down the hours he works (still get a wack of cash and play even more :D)
2. dont work instead play (oh the joys! less cash however probably just enough to live upon)
3. move into another sector of work perhaps? (remote support or something similar requires time and effort :()
4. you could do ebay auctions, but tbh its too late now most people have already got a shop on there meaning less market for yourself unless you undercut prices. (unlikely)
5. stay in the same job (crap i know but it pays, maybe go and buy a car and do some track day's or something? i know if i had that wage you'd see me there ;))

Wow thats what I call addiction! I was addicted to a game for like 3 years and all I got was rsi lol, youre a tad obsessed mate its a never ending battle to be the best and someone is ALWAYS one step ahead of you. If a hacking happens or the business goes bust, youre screwed! Honest mate, get out of it while you can youre just wasting yourself!

My mate plays them a lot he calls himself a pro gamer aka lazy bum -.-

Fight it, say no!!!!!!!!! Some people died over this too and the articles are somewhere on the web. One guy killed someone in real life for stealing his in game sword and another shot himself because his cousin stole his items strange thing was he was like you....in a nice job early 30s but had a wife and he did give up his job for it. I will try and find articles later to show you im not making this up!

Choice is yours :)

Anyone with no mortgage to pay and a £60k income is going to have huge amounts of disposable income, so how come he's only got a couple of thousand in savings? Where does the rest go, a heavy coke habit?
lol made me laugh

Sounds like a mad idea :/

If you need money you could rent your flat out and rent a craphole to live in til you get bored of playing games.....

I'm thinking of chucking in my 60k a year job... I work in I.T. (2\3rd line support) ....

show me a 2nd / 3rd line support role that pays £60k and then I'll take this tread seriously.

as for quiting to play computer games and claim benefits .. oh dear

you earn just under what i get and i am a couple of years younger, basically downsizing and giving up your job at your age is very risky. My apartment in the city centre is worth over 280k and my house is around 200k NO mortgage.

If i was to sell up them funds will most probably last me a couple of years but with the world and money becoming a key factor it will become less and less. Dont forget if you ever want kids or a wife you will need 4x that

Maybe you saying you want to give up and play games is a sign that your job isnt satisfying

I've got a mortgage free flat with broadband and a soon to be kick@ss PC (if I can finalise the damn spec). I'm thinking of chucking in my 60k a year job and playing mmorpgs. My only problem is how to pay the bills without taking some menial part time job. I work in I.T. (2\3rd line support) so it's tough to get a job working from home. I've only got a few k in cash which won't last too long. The flat is only worth 140k so downsizing isn't an option.

Anyone done something like this before, or have any advice on how to secure an income?

I will get your job, pay for your bills/food/escort services and we call it a deal.

Thats just sad IMO. I really enjoy my gaming, but couldnt do it all the time. Dude, if your on a 60k a year job then why not save a shed load and buy a damn nice car or something?

If your quitting to play games your either stupid or a total gaming nerd IMO.

If you quit and start doing this, i really hope when you pull your brain together you cannot get a job paid over the minimum wage then you will realise in what a ggood position you were. Soem people would love to have what you do.
