Retro console and games thread

Im buying an ntsc snes off of ebay. It only comes with one controller. Can I use the PAL version controllers on the ntsc system?

Also, I'll be running this in Canada when I go and visit my girlfriend over there. What tv connection will I need for it?

Mmmmmm... PC Engines are the lovely stuff. If you never played one, you missed out :< ( IMO ). The handheld size comparison pics above made me realize quite how many handhelds i have, and theres a few (broke ones) that didn't make the final line up!

The TurboExpress is the winner as far as size goes, I think its bigger than the gamegear. Just about.

no Nintendo SP?

I want a PC Engine GT :(

Keep forgetting to scan the bay for it, and very nearly got a Micro but at £40.00 its a lot of money just to top up the selection :)

This thread makes me want to get a console I played on years ago. I have fond memories of it as we could only sneak a go on it when my mates mum was out.
Was a Philips games system and it had a game called Ring Masters or somesuch which you had different characters who could walk through walls and stuff.

I really must get round to finishing my mame box off :D

You'll be able to use either the scart or RF cable, personally I'd go for the scart as you'll get a much better picture.

Just love this thread so much, purchased this a few weeks back now.

No box sadly but its dang handy to have at uni, instead of carting around my MD and Mega cd.

Shining force CD makes it all worth it.

Plus it can be used as an ultra portable/great battery life portable cd player..... :p

Not sure how I found this thread, but thanks guys. I now want a master system 2 to add to ye olde megadrive :( Shall be taking a look at the local market at the weekend :D

*bump*

Picked up another snes on thursday with 5 unboxed games and 3 boxed games and the guy gave me a NES with 3 games all for £10 i couldnt beleive it.One of the unboxed games is Secrets of mana which i think is pretty rare.I will throw up some picks 2mor.The snes works perfect but the nes not so good.I just keep getting a flashing red light :/ and the snes is missing the flapper on the top.

The games i got are
Snes
killer instinct (Boxed)
mario allstarts (Boxed)
Primal Rage (Boxed)
Secrets of mana(unboxed)
Magic Sword (unboxed)
Aladdin (unboxed)
Equinox (unboxed)
Player maneger (unboxed)

NES
Silent service
Snake rattle and roll
Dream Master

Does anyone know how to fix the red flashing light issue on the nes?

^^ Canada doesn't use SCART, so it'll be the RF - its still ok though picture wise.

Canada does use SCART, and TVs in Canada are also NTSC just like in the USA.

Why make stuff up, or even post if you don't know something? Misinformation is really bad.

Flashing light (I believe) means there is a bad connection between the cartridge and the system... blowing on the games will work in the short term (usually) but eventually will lead to ever further corrosion of the contacts... perhaps an alcohol based cleaner on the contacts might help.

This thread is pure gaming pr0n, and bought back some good memories :)

I have some cool stuff myself like a white PAL Saturn, Atari ST's, Amiga's, Dreamcast, Spectrums and more in the loft. When i go to car boots i just can't resist things like Amiga 600 with external drive and 100 disks for £5. Most of the time they work to
