Retro console and games thread

Car boots are savage these days with people literally fighting over stuff. I don't really goto them anymore. Some sellers have got wise and expect daft cash for things too :(

I spent all last summer going to two local car boots a week. 99% of stuff was PlayStation 2 and most of those were FIFA or PES games. The odd time a came across anything else it was just a reseller asking stupid money.

I just trawl Gumtree and Shpock on an almost hourly basis most of the time.

Picked up a boxed PS2 with two controllers, DVD remote and an EyeToy for £10 on Saturday.

I even managed a decent win on eBay. A Master System mark 1, two controllers and an RGB Scart lead from Retro Gaming Cables for £34 delivered.

I don't need the controllers so I can move them on and clear £10 and the fact I don't have to buy an RGB SCART saves me another £10. So I see that as a Master System for less than £15. It had Hang On and Safari Hunt built in so two games as well.

This mirrors my experience of car boots exactly. I don't think I saw a single cart game in a whole summer of weekends last year. I picked up quite a few PS1 games though.

Talking of which, I got given (for free!) a box full of PS1 games this morning from someone on my local Facebook sale group. About 30 games including Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Crash 2, Tony Hawks 1 & 2, Final Fantasy IX and FF IV. :)

O...M...G Platoon on the Speccy. Had that years ago when i had my +2. The extra tape is Smokey Robinson "Tracks of my Tears" iirc.

Trying to become one if that counts lol....

I've had a game on eBay for months that I can't shift. It was part of a job lot of mixed games and consoles. It was a great lot and I ended up with some good stuff for myself and made some money as well so it owes me nothing.

But I'd rather give it away on here than end up giving it away on eBay by auctioning it off.

Nothing special, WWF Wrestlemania. But it's complete in box and includes the original pin badges.

Trust me your address and I'll post it off, no charge.

My latest purchase this evening :)

The GC games didn't come out well in the pic but pick of the bunch there is Metroid Prime, MP: Echoes, Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion.

Figured it was time to dig out a bit of the retro collection thats been sat gathering dust - Whats the best way to improve image quality on say the n64 besides buying a CRT tv? :)

Have the following games to work my way through -

Bomberman 64
Banjo Kazooie
Golden Eye 007
Micro Machines 64 Turbo
Mario 64
Diddy Kong Racing
Banjo Tooie
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Quake 2
*cough* A bugs Life
Command and Conquer
Mark kart 64
F1 Grand Prix
Bomberman Hero.

Also have acquired a ps2, and two Dreamcast consoles over the last year :)

You could try a SCART to HDMI upscaler.

Other than modding the N64 there's not a lot you can do as far as I'm am aware, I don't think PAL N64's can even do RGB, but someone else might correct me.

The only way is either using a composite lead or rgb on a modern tv. The smaller the tv the better.

Svideo cable on consolegoods.co.uk. The UK N64 cant output RGB but the SVid picture is pretty special tbh :)

Think its £7.90 + P&P

Taken on phone of my TV but think you can see how crisp the image is :)

I need a dreamcast in my life!

I have all the megadrive sonics on the way hopefully today and also picked up Animal crossing and mario sunshine for gc

Just got rid of mine. I had too many consoles and not enough time. And since I didn't own a Dreamcast first time around it joined the original Xbox and N64 casualty list. Just the Xbox left to sell now.
