RM before 1pm item not delivered

This thread in particular is about Royal Mail too, a purely privatised company.

National Rail and the Government interference is a bit different, but RM are wholely privatised. At a personal level, I have had several parcels disappear or arrive significantly later than expected due to their strikes.

Any more parcels I have to send in future will not be sent via RM. Literally every other parcel delivery company is more reliable than them at the moment, as a consumer I will vote with my wallet and they won't get future business from me. I'm sure there are many other businesses and individuals across the country that will do the same thing.

If the baldy ******* (alliteration I know) who constitute the typical union fat cat are calling their members out over the difference between 10% and 9% impacting only the general public, then their members will have to abide by the consequences.
It is not 1970, if you want to send a card or letter use email, send money use PayPal, Bank transfer etc. A parcel? Use any one of half a dozen couriers who will pick up on your doorstep or at a convenient local store.
No more Saturday deliveries? Well it is another nail in their coffin and there will be others who can.
Tell me you have ZERO understanding of what this dispute is about, without telling me you have zero clue!

It is about a pay increase and a reduction in working time tagged on. My issue is with unions taking people out on strike when other less draconian means are possible, it is probably also political

Remarkable really that during COVID large swathes of businesses were using huge sums of money from the government to furlough their staff, and those staff had the luxury of staying safe in their homes. Yet I seem to recall Royal Mail staff worked all through the pandemic.

How quick things like that are forgotten. Now people are moaning about their plight for a fair pay rise.

Same as just about every other public service.

As Frankie Boyle says. During the pandemic were we meant to be just clapping ironically. Like Yeah well done doing your jobs clap clap, yeah well done.

Currently waiting for a prescription via Tracked and some pretty expensive guitar kit via RMSD which was collected on Monday and shows no subsequent updates. I’m not confident it’s going to arrive at this point.

Some very whiny ****babies in this thread, to be sure.

No, people won't stop using RM over a few strike days. On the whole, they're the most reliable, cost-effective parcel service. DPD is way more expensive, especially for more remote regions, Evri are completely hit-and-miss and if you have an issue or something is lost you're SOL.

RM cost the same everywhere, are usually fairly timely, and if something does happen I've had no personal issues with their claims procedures and getting money back.

royal mail came to my house yesterday with a package, and 3 people in the van wtf is that all about ?
They park the van and then spread out to deliver to surrounding streets on foot, meet back at the van and drive a bit further. Big stuff they can't easily carry gets van delivered to the door.

It's actually a reasonably efficient way of doing things.
