Road Cycling

Having been in London Town all day today it's no surprise people are killed on bikes utter utter idiots cyclists and cars alike.

Totally gob smacked tbh.

I commute by bike every day in London and I'm pretty confident and generally feel quite safe.

Last week I had to drive 1 mile to return a hire car during rush hour and was quite shocked seeing it from the other side. Cyclists flying around your car from all sides, weaving in and out. It's quite daunting! I was constantly looking at all my mirrors but I imagine for a lot of drivers this becomes hassle so they just don't bother.

I've been hitting the gym for nearly 3 years now, not sure how it has affected my cycling to be honest! Because I've started cycling at the same time haha :) I can totally see how squats would give me extra raw power when sprinting or climbing up short climbs! But at the same time the 10kg or so extra mass over a cyclist of my height will slow me down over long same gradient climb.

I did loads of turbo time in preps for a mega ride last May (non-stop JOGLE) but I'm knocking 7s off a 60s climb and 15s off a 4 min climb without pushing hard. I've done the climbs 50+ times so it's not the only time I've pushed it out. Agree on the long stuff, but we only really have 10 minute ones round here so power still helps I guess.

I have always squatted (and I am doing a little more weight these days) but added RDLs and GMs over this winter an can definitely see more glute action #datass

Tried to get out for a fairly tough ride today (would have been a little over 9k feet of climbing and ~100 miles) but my legs are just not having any of it. My HR shows how little I was able to push things. I definitely need to work out my rest patterns better.

Still, ended up being a fairly hilly metric in nice weather so it's not all bad :)

That wasn't from my drunken Fb comment was it haha?

It's the Apr on Tuesday but bundy meets at the corner of the road to Larkhall where the skoda garage is at 7pm.

Ah yeah, forgot about the APR. In that case, i'll be there this week. But will try and get to the bundy the week after. 7pm is quite a good time for me actually, can get back from work and get down there fairly easily i reckon.

Aye I had to have a lie down too after todays ride. Beautiful ride out today. Not yet calm but sunny, warm and fairly quiet roads.

I didn't really lie down. I drank a massive coffee then ate a scotch egg, a packet of super noodles, 4 bits of toast, some grapes and a Rowntrees Fruit Pastels ice lolly. #mybodyisatemple #recoverymatters

Then i cut the grass, did the strimming and edging and generally did all the stuff i've wanted to do to the garden but haven't been able to due to lack of summer.
