Bontrager do a speed/cadence sensor which attaches to your bike with just an elastic band thing so you can easily move it from one bike to another, if that is any use to you.

Good to see you out riding again , did you go off for work abroad for a while ?

We'll have to meet somewhere soon and I can lead you out on some of your segments down your way (if I dont hold you back with your average sky-rocketing lately). I get down yours every couple of weeks or so to get some new scenery.

Yeah I did 4 weeks in Oman, got another 2 coming up shortly. I had to do a lot of work kneeling down in my last week and I knew my knees were suffering a bit but they didn't really start playing up until I got home so I've had to ease myself back in to it a bit.

Definitely would be good to meet up and there is no chance of you holding me up!

It does look like pretty aggressive filtering.

I think the main risk to you is that one day you'll come up against someone else doing the same and you'll both be screwed!

I guess I don't see it, its slow at 12-15mph.. !

there is no place for a 2nd me in that gap ;)

Some bits like when you go to undertake a motorbike indicating left, sure he didn't need to move over that far but doing things like that you've got to expect some occasional conflict :p

aha, yeah that was totally 50/50! :) he did indicate, and I see him commuting quite often and generally he's a very good rider but that day he indicated and just went for it without looking, I was right behind him and I had no time to stop properly hence me sliding towards him in the hope to stop before I smash into the side!

very random that was.

awwww.. need a new rear but pro4's are quite expensive now - new V2 version is out so their retail at around 35-40quid/tyre! way more than the usual £22!

thinking of 4 seasons now!

Great weekend of riding for me, I'd gone out solo on thursday and had a slight mechanical but still got some good miles in. I had commuted all week as I didn't do an after work ride on Monday (usually take a rest day so I can do distance on the weekend), so saturday was my 6th day of consecutive riding. My legs were feeling slightly tired and as my friend I was riding with saturday wanted to do 60-70 miles I said I'd do an easy 35-40 with him. He wanted to ride to Abergavenny (and back) so I planned to ride some of the way before looping off back home. :)

We headed out just after midday and were doing 5 mile turns on the front, I was feeling strong so we'd got to Pandy before I even began to tire. Headwinds were constant (always feels slow then) so I carried on figuring the way home would be nice and easy! ;)

After a brief stop in Abergavenny, a museli bar and a gel we headed back. It didn't feel like a tailwind ()! Speeds show it must have been as our averages back are quite a bit higher. One of my 5 mile stints was fast as I was in the drops pushing for nearly the entirety. I'm guessing the gel, museli and slight downhill worked out well!

We had a stop on the way back for a cleat bolt (not mine this time) and then a semi-planned one at a garage just outside Hereford (Locks) where they do a massive ice cream for £1 (see pics on Strava)! The maple syrup sugar rush home really helped. Total ride 47.4 miles - my furthest yet and certainly my fastest over any real distance. The route along main roads (good surfaces), lack of stops/junctions along with no long hills certainly helped. One day I'll attempt The Tumble ;)

My legs feel fine but yesterday I suffered from sore achilles, not sure if from shoe rub or just the distance. Also have a sore neck so need to work on relaxing my shoulders more.

With the couple of miles my Garmin missed on the Thursday (and a missing commute I'll solve later) I'll be near 115 miles for the week, first time I've done over 100! Chuffed! :D

Yet again having issues with my Garmin cadence meter. Sigh. It's the old GSC-10(?), anyone bought one of the newer ones? Worth the money?

Worth changing battery? My GSC-10 played up a while ago (it's only 18 months old so would be about 10 months ago?) and I changed the battery for a Panasonic 2032 I had floating around in my PC bits for christ knows how long. It's been good, only had to recreate the pairing on it once since!

Hear the new ones are great though...

If you're buying new then I'd just get the Wahoo cadence meter. It's Ant+/BT so you've got a bit more scope for future use of it.

I'm certainly considering Wahoo when I need to change. I went with them for my HRM (before I even got S&C) and needed BT (IPhone), the ANT+ worked flawlessly when changing to Android and now it works perfectly with my 810 too.

Nice start to a Monday

Email from Rose bike saying my bike has been shipped!!! Woohoo!!

You've been keeping your good eye on it? ;)

Take it easy and keep your eye protected even if it means wearing clear lenses!

I bought my last P4E's from CRC (when I got my wheels) as Wiggle didn't have any of the older ones in stock. The newer V2 seemed expensive and weird sizes?!

I snapped up some 4S from Wiggle last week though. 700x25 still in stock and £31.55 each (43% off)!

Ready for autumn/winter :D

Maybe he's finally got annoyed with you/having a bad day! ;)

There's still plenty of V1 tyres about...

Decathlon are still selling 25mm Pro 4 Service Course at £35 for a pair. Even when you factor in delivery that's a bargain.

Chainreactioncycles have the Comp at £24, though that may not be durable enough for commuting. They also have Service Course at £23 in black or £22 in blue, or Grip at £26.50. All 23mm tyres.

Wiggle have 23mm Service Course in blue, red or white at £22.

Conclusion: You fail at Internet.

he may have got annoyed with the fact that no matter where he goes I am always next to him ;) and he's on a motorbike ahahaha.

that's a bit harsh? :( you've hurt my feelings.. I've got the platinum discount hence me shopping mainly at wiggle! I know I can find v1's around, I've got endurance right now and I believe they're the "toughest" out of the pro4 line right?

I thought the V2s were 28mm only. There's no reason to buy them over the V1s in 25mm, which I've not had any issues buying from CRC.

edit: Yeah, the endurance are meant to be the toughest though the Pro4 SC Grip are also meant to have decent longevity (seemed pretty similar to endurance, maybe slightly better when I used them but as they're only available in 23mm I've gone back to the endurance).

edit2: Don't go for 4seaons if you're bothered about longevity. They ride nice but they're not that durable.

wiggle has 23/25/28c hence me asking haha :) I'm not going for less than 25c! love them.

rear is getting quite flat in the centre so it's time to get a new one, will keep front as it's still going strong - aka swap front to back, drop new tyre the front = success.

service course might be an option!

Ah, I didn't realise that. Kind of annoying as they're a fair bit more expensive as you say. All the things only I can find seem to shy away from comparing V1 vs V2 tyres and the "V2 features" sound extremely similar to the descriptions of Pro4 Endurance tyres in general. Call me sceptical.

Such a delicate flower :p

I know ;) right, you've hurt my massive ego and all that! cmon. :( hope you feel good about your actions!

I kinda have a feeling that there will be very little difference between v1 and v2;) bar nearly double the price for now because is "new" :o

Great tyres, I've used them for the past two winters and they have been flawless.

Just don't read anything into the Wiggle discount percentages. They mean nothing. Things like tyres are never full price at Wiggle. Nor are they full price at any other online retailer. Everywhere is about 40% off :p

Glad to hear I made a good choice then!

Before I struggled to find them in stock in 700x25, Rose seemed the cheapest buying them in a pair for £64 and paying for delivery.

So being in stock and cheaper than £32 on wiggle was a no brainer and more of a deal! Quick delivery too! ;)
